I settle down into my over-used cushioned chair in the movie theater and Harry takes a seat right next to me and sets The drink right between us. We decided to take some drinks from all of the dispensers so this has a mix of all the sodas, lemonades, and teas in it. We also got a large popcorn and put M&M's in it to add bursts of sweetness to the popcorn. Basically Harry covered my eyes and I picked a random movie. We don't know what it's about or anything, but why not, right?

I take a sip of the drink and an explosion of crazy flavors all collide in my mouth and it's one of the most interesting things I've tasted in my life. This makes me laugh and I force Harry to taste it since it was his "great idea" to mix all the drinks. The lights dim and the movie starts. I grab some popcorn and throw it in my mouth. All throughout the movie I can see Harry glancing over at me, but luckily he doesn't try to make a move or anything. This movie turned out to be a romantic comedy. Because were such great friends, however, we found endless ways to make fun of it. The movie was a total waste of money but hey, it was a lot of fun to make fun of it and throw popcorn at each other. On our way out of the theater, Harry threw away the rest of out crazy drink and we decided to sit on the bench and talk for a bit.

Though he's having a blast just like this, I know he wants to know what's going on between us. The issue is, I still don't know how to feel about him.

"So uh... That was fun." Harry exclaims happily. I smile,

"Yeah. Yeah it was..." I truly agree with him. It was just two friends watching a movie. I was really afraid he was going to try to make a move or something but he didn't.

"What time is it?" He asks me and I pull out my phone.

"10:30." I laugh, when did it get so late?

"Oh damn. I better get you home." He stands up and waits for me. I sigh heavily,

"No I don't wanna go!" He laughs.

"Well we can't wait around here." He's right, I guess. I reluctantly stand up and we walk out the door. It's dark outside and pretty cold, the wind has picked up quite a bit. It only takes about two seconds and the rain begins pouring down. Harry and I look at each other and laugh.

"Oh god. Let's go back inside!" I yell over the raindrops slamming the wet pavement. He doesn't move for a moment, I can see his hair getting straighter by the second. I stare up at him through my wet eyelashes and laugh, "C'mon!" So I grab his arm and pull him back through the doors. Somehow, I'm out of breath and I lean up against the wall, soaking wet. Harry laughs again as he shakes his head to fix his hair.

"Aw, you know I parked on the other side of the parking lot." He realizes and I roll my eyes. I'm already soaking wet. I stand there for a minute, not wanting to move. He stands there motionless as well. Neither of us speak. Neither of us want to. It's a good silence though, not awkward or anything. I take a deep breath and finally work up the courage to look into his eyes. Harry's standing a lot closer to me than I had thought. He's gonna try to kiss me again, isn't he...? I don't know what to do. It's like I'm paralyzed. I wish there was an easy way out of this, but I guess there's not. I take this moment to look down at my hands and I take a small step back. Maybe this'll tell him to back up, as well. I don't know how to get out if this. As I step back again, he steps forward so we're even closer than before. I need to say something to him, I need to stop him before he makes another move, but as I open my mouth to speak, I feel his hands delicately slip around my waist and I take a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves. I feel my heart beating faster as I stare into his eyes. Complete fear overcomes me as I realize that there's no getting out of this. I immediately close my eyes, whatever happens, happens. There's nothing I can really do about it now. I bet he wants me to wrap my arms around his neck all romantically, but I don't. It's all wrong. I begin thinking about all of the fun times I've had with him and his brother all the time as best friends. I realize how wrong this is, but why doesn't he? Does he even know what he's doing right now?

"Ha-Harry." I meekly blurt out. He pauses for a moment and stares down at me,

"Yes, love?" He doesn't even skip a beat, like our closeness doesn't bother him.

"W-what are you doing?" It's like I can't speak. This question takes him by surprise and he looks down at how close we are.

"I uh..." He immediately pulls away and walks a couple steps, running his fingers through his wet hair. I stand there, confused and worried. What does this mean of our friendship? "My God, Jen. You must hate me." I take a breath as he slides down the wall so he's sitting against it right next to me.

"Of course I don't, Harry." I slide my back down the wall as well so I'm sitting next to him. "In fact, I love you so much that I don't want anything to ruin our friendship." He rolls his eyes and stares straight ahead, watching the people walk by. Thunder rumbles in the distance and I just stare ahead, as well.

"Yeah, well." There's a pause, "let's get you home." I close my eyes and nod.

"Yeah. I think that's a good idea."

"C'mon. Let's go." He said as he stands up. Harry holds his hand out for me to take and I hoist myself up. We run out under the pouring rain to Harry's car and he can't find his keys fast enough so were both soaked once we get in the car.

"My God, Harry. You're slower than my mom. You know she can never find her keys." He forces a chuckle as he turns on the car. The cold air conditioning blows freezing air on me and I immediately turn it to heat. It's a silent drive the whole way home, and for the first time in years, it's an awkward silence. I open my mouth to speak, but close it again and again, I can't find the right words to say. He finally pulls up to the front of my house and we sit there, the pitter patter of rain drops is the only thing I hear. I check the clock and it says 11:36. My moms gonna be so mad...

"Uh.. Thanks for the ride. And the movie. And the popcorn." I smile widely and he just nods,

"Yeah, okay." I roll my eyes mentally and just furrow my eyebrows. What do I say to that? Should I just get up and leave?

"Okay." And that's it. "I'll see you tomorrow!" I give him my best smile again but he doesn't even look.

"Bye, Jennifer." These words hit me in the heart. He called me Jennifer. Not Jen. He makes no effort to look in my direction and just stares ahead as I get out. I feel like I should say something, but as I stand there in the drizzling rain, I realize how hurt he really is, so I walk away.
