"You'll regret it Dimitri, you hear me?" Leonardo said, before hanging up the phone. He was standing in the middle of his office, together with his most trusted man in his organisation, his lawyer Gustavo. He had been in an important meeting before this occurrence happened.
"What happenend, sir?" His lawyer asked him.
Leonardo sigh, before he answered "That idiota backed out of the deal."
"Who? What deal, sir?"
Rolling his eyes, he told Gustavo "The deal I made with Dimitri Nabatov. He promised to kill Vadim, in exchange for protection and my help. He wants to leave the crime business behind him."
It was silent for a minute, Gustavo was taking in the newly discovered information and Leonardo was just lost in his own thoughts.
"Now I want you to arrange the deal we talked about and leave, immediately."
Gustavo quickly nodded his head before he left the office, he knew not to push Leonardo. He was his superior after all. Leonardo Martínez was the most feared man of entire South America, if not of the southern hemisphere. Leonardo was the leader of the most powerful crime family in Brazil. That reputation only increased when he married Nya, the daughter of a powerful crime boss from South-Africa.
Leonardo was almost unstoppable...
Now Leonardo was left alone, something he was happy about. He needed to think, how was he going to take revenge now?
Slowly he walked to the window, looking outside. It was winter, but in Brazil it was still very hot. The sun was shining, tickling the freshly cut grass.
Outside he could see his one-year-old daughter, Malika, play in the sandbox, while multiple nannies were watching over her. Leonardo's face scrunched up as he saw the scenery, his face held a look of disappointment and disgust. It was no secret to anyone that Leonardo would've much rather had a boy.
Softly he heard the door behind him open, followed by the sound of soft footsteps. Footsteps that could only belong to one person, the love of his life.
"Nya." He softly whispered, before he turned around. Before him stood his wife, Nya Martinez. She was wearing a dark blue dress, complimenting her dark skin and a beautiful smile graced her face.
"Leonardo, how is the deal going?" Nya asked, while walking towards him. Leonardo turned back around, once again looking outside before he spoke "Dimitri cancelled, he got scared."
Nya spoke, while she hugged him from behind and laid her head on his back "But how are we going to get revenge now?"
"Don't worry sweetheart, we'll have our revenge. What Vadim did to you... us, is unacceptable. He will pay." Leonardo spoke full of confidence.
On the other side of the globe, the family Nabatov was at the hospital. Vadim and Anastasia were standing at Dimitri's bedpost. Nickolai and Karina were home, while Alexei's wife, Amara, was watching over them.
"What if he'll never wake up, Vadim?" Anastasia asked, as tears were rolling down her face. Before her Dimitri was laying on the bed... unconscious.
Vadim didn't answer, he just kept staring outside the window. He didn't really care what would happen to Dimitri, if it wasn't for his sister and nephew.
"Mrs. Nabatova?" The doctor asked as he entered the room. The doctor was one Vadim's family doctor's, somebody who's family had been working for the Nabatov's for generations. "Boss."
"Is he going to be fine?" Anastasia asked concerned.
"I'm happy to be able to tell you Dimitri will be fine. Although it may take a few days for him to wake up." The doctor told her, making Anastasia sigh in relieve. Vadim on the other hand just kept quiet. Of course he was happy for his sister and nephew, but that was it.
Vadim had something else on his mind. His mind was filled with concerns of his own. And all those concerns had to do with one little baby... Karina.
