Anastasia was standing in the British airport, her sunglasses were hiding her distressed eyes as she tried to search for Manuel. He had told her to meet her there, but he was already 10 minutes late. Every minute felt like an agonizing eternity for Anastasia Nabatova. She didn't know what to do, she didn't know what Vadim would do to her when she returned to Russia after this.
It had been a long time since she felt so distressed with the thought to return to Russia, the last time was 18 years ago. After she had left on her 19th birthday, Anastasia never wanted to return to Russia again. Especially not after what happened, however she did 4 years laters. It had been too late, her parents had already died.
As she got lost in thought, thinking about everything that had happened in the past. All she had sacrificed... She didn't see the dark figures approaching, followed by a distressed looking Manuel.
"Mrs. Nabatova." Manuel's voice made her snap out of her thoughts, as she looked up she was met with two pairs of angry eyes. Eyes she had immediately recognized. Anastasia took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. Panicking wouldn't help the situation. "Gustavo, I assume you want to talk to me." He gave her a quick nod before he spoke again "Please follow us, Mrs. Nabatova." As she walked away she could feel the stares from the people in the airport, wondering who they were. They looked quite intimidating and mysterious.
The moment the car door shut behind her, after being pushed in the backseat with Manuel, the car sped off. All she could think off, was how stupid she had been to come to England. However she didn't feel any regret, knowing it was for a greater cause. Protecting her secret. Although she doubted that it would be a secret for much longer, if Leonardo hadn't figured it out yet.
"Mrs. Nabatova, I am so sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen, you know I have been protecting you and the... thing for many years. They took me by surprise." As he said 'thing' Manuel had looked at Gustavo, sitting in the passenger seat. He was unsure if he could name the thing by his name. Anastasia was listening to him talk, but she didn't respond. She was too consumed with worry.
"My beautiful girl." Leonardo spoke to the 19 year old Anastasia. She was standing in front of the mirror, only her underwear on, as he had his arms wrapped around her waist. She giggled as she turned around and started making out with the handsome man.
He had made her feel special the past few months that she had been staying with him after she left Russia. Here she could be free, do whatever she wanted. It was quite the opposite from her strict home in Russia. As she thought of her parents she bit her lips. "What is wrong, beautiful?" Leonardo asked, noticing her change of mood.
"My parents, they don't know of us. I am scared how they will reacted when they find out, you know... they aren't big fans of you." This made Leonardo laugh "I think they would want me dead already, since our parents didn't get along. Plus you don't have to tell them, my beautiful Anastasia, we can just keep us a secret." He said this as he started kissing her on her lips and neck, leading her to the bed.
As he started kissing down her neck, Anastasia laid still. All she could think about is how her brother had reacted when she told him about the affair. He had shouted at her through the phone. He thought she was stupid, he was the enemy, let alone he was 9 years older than her. Vadim however had promised not to tell their parents, not wanting to start a war between the two families.
Anastasia pushed Leonardo away, "What's wrong?" he had asked. "I am not feeling it". Anastasia got up from the bed, walking to the closet to get dressed.
"Dimitri, how can you not know where your fucking wife is?!" Vadim was raging, he felt like his blood was boiling. Dimitri could see the rage in his brother-in-law's eyes as he himself was on the verge of crying. He didn't know what to do, Anastasia had ran from him, from their son and god knows where she went to. Now he was left to deal with her monster of a brother, who would definitely skin him alive if he didn't answer soon.
"She left Vadim, don't you see. I know nothing." Dimitri whispered, looking down as tears began streaming down his eyes. Vadim started walking towards him and Dimitri prepared himself for the worst, but right at that moment Alexei walked in, Vadim's right hand. "Sir we have found Roksana." Alexei got straight to the point. Making Vadim snap his head towards him.
On the inside Dimitri was relieved as now Vadim would be too distracted with the girl to deal with her. Dimitri's eyes followed Vadim's moves as he walked out the door. Slowly he let his breath go, he was free he thought. Alexei gave him a dirty look, he knew Anastasia had escaped to a place unknown. They all blamed him for Anastasia's escape, after all he was the softy of everybody there. The weak link, who would help his wife leave to wherever. Alexei was about to turn around, but then he heard Vadim say "Keep an eye on the traitor, Alexei, see if you can get anything out of him." Dimitri's face turned from relief to fear, like a dear caught in the headlights.
"I swear I know nothing", Dimitri said.
