He waited beside the cobblestone pillars for him. Valhalla looked out upon the white waterfalls of Saevel and smiled to himself as he turned his gaze to his little brother playing in the grassy meadow with his friends.
He finally emerged from the house, and rode up beside Val, placing a gentle hand in the others.
"Ready to go?" Valhalla asked, looking to the young man.
"Of course." He responded, giving the mage a smile.
With that, the sorcerer, hand intertwined with the others, started down the steps and to where their horses waited idly, hitched to a stone fence.
"Val! You guys heading out now?" His little brother called.
The boy jogged over, black strands of curly hair fluffing around his pointed ears. Freckles dotted the boys silverish complexion.
The Mage extended his arms and picked up the shorter boy easily.
"Yep. I'll miss you kiddo."
"Miss you too." Gadreel, his brother gave Val a tight hug. "Take care of him will ya?" The young boy said, looking to Valhalla's companion.
"Will do." He responded, an amused smile on his lips.
The Mage put his brother down, ruffled the boys hair and turned to his Appaloosa stallion. He grabbed onto the saddle and pulled himself into it.
With the sun high above them, they rode the stoney path along the forest, and out of the elven sanctuary of Saevel.
They were quiet for the time being, the nerves in the pit of their stomachs not daring to calm.
After a long day of travel, they took a break and settled for the night.
Valhalla let out a sigh as he sat down beside the fire, and extended his arm as he rotated the foreign bird that hung above the flame.
His companion emerged from the woods with an arm full of twigs and chunks of fallen wood.
"Hows cooking going?" He asked with a small chuckle, setting the wood down and sat next to the elven man.
"Going as well as our mission." Val responded, leaning a bit on the boy next to him.
The other stifled a laugh. "At least it's edible."
"Heheheh, yeah..."
A silence fell between them once again.
"Don't worry Valhalla. We'll find Kvothe before she does something brash."
"Unless Morgana finds her first."
"Val, you're quite optimist these days."
"Oh shut up." Val responded with a huff.
Val locked eyes with the others emerald ones, hand brushing up against his companions and with a---
"Is he awake?"
"Valhaaaallaaaaaa." A gruff voice pierced through.
"G-Give h-him some sp-space."
"Are you sure it worked?"

Jim watched as the small troll ground up the Beatha flowers and sang a quiet incantation. With a small spark from the bowl, a liquid filled it to the brim.
TartarugaTerra ever so carefully parted the Mages lips and gave him the antidote.
They watched silently and patiently, waiting for Terra to finish what they was doing.
