"What... what the fuck..." I moved away from him.

Joji looked concerned. His eyes were healthy.

"What's wrong, princess?"

"Don't give me that bullshit... how did you do that..."

"Do what? (Y/N), are you okay-

"OF COURSE I'M NOT FUCKING OKAY YOU JUST DID SOME DOCTOR STRANGE HORROR MOVIE SHIT!!!"

"I didn't do anything... did you have a nightmare last night? You seem on edge..."

It seemed like he genuinely didn't know what I was talking about. So decided to I drop it.

"You know what... nevermind... it's nothing."

I went back into his arms, hugging him. He grabbed my shoulders, forcing me to look at him.

"(Y/N), you can't just have an episode like that and just drop it like it was nothing. Tell me what made you act like that."

"I... you... you... froze me... And you were talking... but it didn't sound like you? But you were here. And we were cuddling literally the same way. The mirror's broken! It wasn't broken before!"

"The mirror?" He looked at the cabinet mirror, then gave a face of dismay.

"Aw fuck... how did this happen?"

"YOU!!!" I pointed.

"(Y/N) I seriously don't know what you're talking about. Listen, I'll just buy a new cabinet from Home Depot and fix it up myself, ok?"

He sighed, taking a good look at the mirror,"I don't understand.... it was perfect a minute ago...."

"Joji, you don't have to play dumb."

"I could lie and say I know exactly what you're talking about..."

I groaned in frustration,"Okay! You win! Whatever!"

I stormed out of the bathroom, leaving Joji to shower by himself. I didn't want to go to Coney Island anymore, but I felt bad for Ian. He hadn't seen me in god knows how long, so he was excited to do this. I sighed in frustration as I clothed myself.

Joji came out of the bathroom after several minutes, drying his hair with a towel.

"Go ahead," he urged with an annoyed tone.

"You're annoyed with me?" I scoffed.

"You're being presumptuous. I didn't say I was annoyed," he rebutted.

"Don't have to. Your tone speaks volumes," I snapped.

"Fine then. If you don't want to go, I'll just go with Ian without you. I'm sure he'll be happy to hear that you changed your mind."

His words were ridden with sarcasm as he threw on a shirt.

"Don't guilt trip me! I know what you did!"

"What did I do!? I wanted you to at least have fun so you could feel more comfortable with me and now you're blaming me for your imagination!"

"You've done shady shit before!"

He scoffed as he put on his boxers and pants.

"Whatever. You have fun with him. I'm sure he'll treat you better."

"YES! HE WILL! BECAUSE HE'S NOT A DEMON!"

And with that I stormed toward the mirror, not even hesitating to check if the portal was open or not, assuming that it was. My assumption was correct since I could feel the rift pulling me in as I stepped through.

Joji 2 POV

I woke up this morning to see that (Y/N) was gone.

Son of a bitch...

I sat up and looked at the clock. 10:17 AM. Later than I usually wake up. There was only one place I could think (Y/N) could've gone, but before I even got out of bed, (Y/N) was already returning through the mirror.

"Hey, Joj. I can explain..."

"You felt bad."

(Y/N) paused. I sighed and repeated myself.

"You felt bad... because he seems like the underdog and that he cares about you because he looks like me and acts like me and does everything like me. Is that right?"

(Y/N) nodded in response. "H-how did you know?"

I paused for a long while. So long that (Y/N) was about to repeat the question, but I interrupted.

"The other one... he can read your thoughts right? He's a telepath."

I received a nod from (Y/N) in understanding.

"I can... read... your feelings. I'm an empath." I confessed.

A long silence filled the room. I waited for my partner to speak, to move, to sigh... anything. It was as if my words had frozen (Y/N). But not forever.

"How long were you going to keep that a secret?"

"For as long as I needed to until you found out about... him."

Your POV

I couldn't believe it... Joji was keeping more than one secret from me... and after all this time... the trust we built... the memories we shared... I was sure that I knew everything about Joji, from what his favorite color was to why he hates his home country. Among everything I was feeling and thinking, only one thing truly stood out from the rest...

I can't trust anyone anymore...
