james stands in the middle of the hallway, nervously adjusting his jeans and attempting to smile at your parents. your dad notices james' burnt hand, "what happened to your hand?"
james touches his burnt hand with his normal hand and clears his throat, before answering your dad's question, "i-i uh..."luckily, you walk down the stairs before james manages to think of a good explanation.
you walk over to james and interwine your fingers with james', causing your mother to grimace as you're not holding the unaffected hand. "we're going to leave now, i'll won't be back too late."
your dad opens the front door for you and james, "thank you, sir. i promise that (y/n) won't be home too late." this causes your mother's eyes to soften and smile heartedly at james. "have fun, you two!"
when you both leave the house, james sighs with relief and lets out an awkward laugh, "your dad must really like me..."
during the date, you two go to an american diner and share a banana split. then, james takes you on a long walk through the forest before it got too dark. as promised, james takes you home before it got too late and gave you a goodnight kiss.
