Chapter 7

When we pulled up to Finns house, you could hear the deafening music blazing from inside the house. We parked across the street then walked inside. There was a lot of people there, practically our whole grade. My phone dinged, then I read the text.
Ben- I'm at the party, where are you at?
I smiled then started to text him back.
Rey- I just got here, near the door.
I looked around, then caught sight of Ben walking towards me.
"Rey you look beautiful," he said eyeing me up and down.
"Thanks," I blushed.
"Lets go find Finn," she said trying to go through the crowd.
"Ok," I said following her holding Bens hand.
We walked to the kitchen where we found Finn holding two bottles of beer standing next to Poe.
"Hey guys!" Poe waved to us.
"Hey Rey, I'm so glad you came!" Finn exclaimed.
"This is actually my first high school party," I blushed.
"Here take this,"he said handing me a bottle of beer.
"Um thanks," I said.
I had never drank before, but tonight had been a lot of firsts for me.
"Scared?" Ben asked as I opened the cap slowly.
"No," I said in a matter of fact tone.
Ben quickly yanked the bottle out of my hand and took a sip before I could take it back from him.
"Ben!" I laughed as he gave me a goofy grin. I took a deep breath and took a gulp of the bitter yellow tasting stuff.
Finn and Rose had already headed out to the dance floor.
"Cmon lets go!" I said pulling him to the small dancing space in the living room. Ben and I danced beside Finn and Rose. At one point I thought they were going to kiss, but they awkwardly laughed. I couldn't hear anything over the loud music, but I saw Rose lead Finn over to a corner and she looked serious.
"What are you looking at them for?" Ben asked.
"Rose told me she's going to ask Finn out tonight," I responded.
After a few minutes of watching them talk, I saw Rose burst into a huge smile, then they kissed.
A flurry of happiness rose inside of me and I smiled at Ben.
"He said yes," he said as he looked at me happily.
We slowly leaned into a kiss and then it turned into a make out session. We made our way to one of the couches and continued. The party had already died down some and people were leaving and or quietly making out in corners.
After what seemed like forever, I pulled away.
"Thank you Ben," I said.
"For what?" He asked in a seductive tone.
"For loving me," I said kissing him once again.
"PDA alert!" Poe said crashing next to us on the couch.
"Poe!" I said softly punching his shoulder.
"Did you see who else is officially a couple?" Poe asked motioning towards Finn and Rose who were talking to each other in the kitchen,
"Yeah, I'm glad they're finally dating," Ben said.
"Me too," Poe responded.
Something happily fluttered inside me that even though they were from two different cliques, they were talking like old friends. I wanted Ben to get along with my friends, and he was.
Before long, everyone had left and it was just Poe, Rose, Finn, Ben, and I sitting on the couch.
"This was a great party," I told Finn.
"Thanks, I'm thinking about having another one next Friday."
"I could've used more beer though," Poe chuckled.
I snuggled up to Ben as he put his arm around me. I glanced at my phone and nearly fainted at the time.
"2:19 am?!" I shouted "I completely lost track of time!"
I scrolled though all the missed calls and texts from mom and dad.
"What time were you supposed to be home?" Ben asked standing up.
"My parents wanted me home by 11:30, I completely forgot!" I wailed.
"Time flies when you're having fun," Ben said grabbing his car keys.
"I'll take you home."
We said goodbye to the squad, then we walked to his car. The car ride to my house was quiet. We were both so tired.
"I love you," he said out of the blue.
"I love you too, Ben," I said meaning it.
