-Marco's POV-
I have to admit, every time he saw Tom, he was intimated by him. But this time, Tom didn't look threatening. He didn't have his usual swag and his entrance wasn't as great as the others. He didn't even look cool today. He looked broken down and sad. For a guy who put me on crutches, I actually felt pretty bad for him.
"Why are you here?" I asked, with a fake annoyed voice. "Did you come to sign my cast?" You are owning it, Diaz! Keep up the sass!
"I told you. We need to talk." Tom said glummly.
"About?"
"Star." He sighed.
Then, I was angry. "So, let me get this straight. You injured me for Star and she beats you up, then you make a scene in detention which results with Star telling you off, and you still think you have a shot with her?!" I snapped at him.
"Pretty much." Tom stared at me blankly.
"You are such a jerk." I crossed my arms. "Why are you even talking to me about Star, anyways? Don't you think I have a secret crush on her?"
"Well, I don't think that anymore. It's just that I need your help."
"With what? Do you need help breaking Star's heart or breaking my other leg?"
"Can you just forget about your injury? I said I was sorry."
"First of all, you didn't apologize for my injury. Second of all, I can't forget about my injury because I'm currently injured."
"Still?" Tom looked puzzled.
"Limbs don't fix themselves in a couple weeks."
"Really?" Tom didn't look convinced.
"Yes, really. What did you think I was doing walking around with these crutches?"
"I thought those were two earth creatures you were torturing. "
"What?" He knows less about Earth then Star does. That's saying something because Star knows basically nothing about Earth.
"We're getting off topic. I need you to help me."
"With what?"
"Well, it's pretty simple, so don't worry about the specific steps." His eyes shifted.
"When someone says that with an eye shift, you can only assume they are planning something shady."
"Pssssh, no." Tom gave a fake smile.
I raised my eyebrow.
"Okay, fine, maybe it's a little shady but-" Tom confessed.
"You're planning on kidnapping her, aren't you?"
"W-what? I would never." His voice cracked.
He looked back at my raised eyebrow.
"Fine. I was planning on taking her. So will you help me or not?" Tom tapped his foot on the floor impatiently.
"Are you kidding me? I'm best friends with Star!"
"Really? I thought you guys got into a fight because you called her weird, but then you felt bad and apologized and she didn't accept you apology and-" Tom started rambling.
"Where have you been for half the summer? That problem was resolved like the day of the first dance."
"Really?" Tom gave another confused look.
"Look, Tom, Star doesn't want to be your girlfriend and you can't make her by kidnapping her. There are plenty more fish in the sea."
"Like who?" Tom frowned.
"What about Janna? You two have a lot in common."
"Who?" Tom looked at me quizzically, again.
"You know, the girl with the beanie."
"Oh, catapult girl. We don't have anything in common! I have never lit a car on fire!" Tom crossed his arms.
I raised my eyebrow once more.
"Well, maybe a once, but it wasn't a car, it was a bus, and it was on accident. Luckily, all the campers were out of the bus." Tom confessed.
"I got to go, Tom. It's time for dinner at the mess hall and I'm meeting Star and Janna there. You can join us if you want." I grabbed my crutches and stood up.
"Nah, I'm okay. I think I'll skip dinner today. I have a lot to think about." Tom stuck his hands in his pockets.
"Okay, Tom. Well, see you soon." I started for the door and Tom followed me out. We walked outside and then went our separate ways. "Wait, Tom."
He turned around. "Yeah."
"You're not as bad as you make yourself out to be. Just try to stay out of trouble."
He lightly smiled. "No promises, Marco."
