"Good morning, thank you for agreeing to meet with me." You smiled kindly at the figure that sat in front of you. He did not notice your presence at first but after saying hello he quickly stood up and greeted you.
You weren't sure if you got the right person but considering he was sitting by himself and the ebony black hair matched his profile gave you a pretty big hint. But then again everyone had dark ebony hair.
"Hello, of course." Judging by the way he answered you got the right person.
Score!
"So what did you want to know?" He smiled kindly.
Judging by first glance you would have never guessed this man so happened 'stalked' Dou but maybe that was not what Stephen was implying. Either way, you still kept your guard up just in case.
It took you about ten minutes to convince Yoongi and Namjoon that you were safe but their worries may have affected you, just a little bit.
"Do you know anything that happened ten years ago with the Gyeongbu line suicide case?" You bluntly answered. Judging by Dou, he and his (ex) boyfriend had a pretty sketchy past, that you did not want anything to do with it. But just a few minutes ago Namjoon and Yoongi filled your brain with worries so now that's an even more reason to hurry up this interview.
"Haha, going straight for the big one I see." He chuckled nervously before pushing his round-framed glasses back up.
That was when you realised maybe you went a bit too fast.
"Oh, I'm sorry if it~." You tried to apologise.
"Oh no, it's quite alright. I came here, prepared to talk about that so go ahead, ask away." He quickly reassured.
You woke up early this morning to prepare some questions you wanted to ask the male but it was quite difficult which puzzled you since this was apart of your job as a prosecutor.
"There are rumours of Dou being apart of the case?" You slowly asked, being cautious of your wording.
"Ye." Was the only word said from the male but you wanted a little bit more.
"Ye?" You repeated his tone.
"You could say apart." He continued whilst creating punctuation marks with his fingers. You gestured for him to continue and he nodded in reply, swishing his coffee before taking a sip. "If you weren't aware, Dou and I share a pretty dodgy past." You watched as he took a deep breath before continuing. "In Seoul, there are two major competing companies, WCC and SSIC. One in which I presume you work at, the second highest investigation company; Wei Criminal Court and the highest ranking investigation company; Seoul security investigation commission."
So Namjoon, Yoongi and your theories were right. It had something to do with the two units.
"It was pretty obvious both units were in competition for the ranking of the top company, not only did that get you something to brag about but you also got the bigger cases which equalled more money." Everything you had discussed with Yoongi and Namjoon was being confirmed by this one man. The three of were spot on. "Since these two companies were in competition Mr Wei decided to go to extended lengths of hiring the gang Dou and I belonged to, to assassinate the heir of SSIC~." He paused for a second, his bottom lip quivered slightly.
Jungkook
He must be having a hard time remembering the past. You would, after what happened in their past. It sounded terrible.
"Take your time." You smiled in a comforting manner.
He nodded before a tear slid down his face. "What we did in the past scared me for life, Dou didn't plan on killing him straight away but I~." He shook his head violently in denial and you quickly handed him a tissue for the tears, patting his back soothingly. But what you didn't catch was the smirked that flashed into his face for a few seconds during the heartwarming moment.
"Thank you." You tenderly smiled. "For telling me this, this will be a great help for the case."
"No problem." He returned a smiled after the tears slowed down.
You continued to pat his back soothingly. You were thankful he decided to open up to you. Now you were certain that Dou killed Jungkook, there was no doubt about it.
Jungkook would finally be released from the train and his spirit could finally move on. You did it, you finally solved the case. But apart of you wished the case dragged on for longer. You would miss the early wake ups you now took so that you could see Jungkook for longer. His presence would be missed on your train ride to and from work, you would be riding the train alone again. No one to be fooling around on the train, nice talks. You would miss the ghost more then you would like to admit.
But what confused you, even more, was, why this man decided to tell you this information. He had no personal connection with you nor did he need to tell you all this. He could have told you a twisted version of the truth or lied altogether.
"Could I bother you with one more question?" You inquired.
"Sure." He recomposed himself and turned to look at you when you took a seat back down.
"Why did you decided to tell me all of this?" You cooked your head to the side and he hummed in understanding before a creepy grin made its way into his face.
"He deserves it, for cheating on me." Your heart dropped to the bottom of your stomach. The pure cynical tone of his voice when from zero to one hundred very fast. The innocent vibe he gave off a few seconds ago vanished into thin air and was replaced with a dark one.
You turned pale in fright, the sudden worry Yoongi and Namjoon had resurfaced in your mind. His true colours from his gang days finally showing.
Only one thing was going through your mind which was: 'Get out of there.'
You got the information you needed which pretty much confirmed Dou was the killer and that's it. The eighty-five percent to one hundred. You did not want to stay any longer.
Was the tears just an act?
Was his whole personality an act too?
You didn't want to stick around and find out. You quickly but not obviously packed up all your notes and stood up from your chair.
"I can't thank you enough for all your help." You smiled, hiding your nervousness and urge to get out of the cafe. You held out your hand to shake his out of politeness and he gripped into your hand, too tight for comfort.
"No problem (y/n)." He grinned smugly before you quickly retracted your hand and exited the building before any other word could be exchanged.
