"Hey (y/n), how have you been?" A deep voice inquired from the other side of the line.

"Good, I think I've had enough of bed rest. I'm ready to get back to work." You spoke enthusiastically.

"You sure?" He inquired, voice laced with worry.

"Yeah, I think three days of rest is enough. Plus I can't have you and Namjoon work on the case by yourselves. You guys are doing a favour for me after all." A sigh could be heard through the speaker, you assumed the older was rubbing his temples at this point.

"It doesn't matter if it is a favour or not, you can take a few more days off this case if you want. Namjoon and I have got it covered. Your health is more important." He tried reasoning, making you laugh. Your best friends soft side showing.

"Awww." You cooed in a teasing manner. "Are you too worried? Because I'm okay, promise."

"(Y/n). That's not the point." You hear a different voice say, you assumed it was Namjoon. It was sweet that they were worried about you but you were more than one hundred percent fine. In fact, you had so much bottled up energy ready to be put into investigating Jungkook's case and work.

"Joon, Yoongs." You begin to speak sternly. "I said I'm feeling great, I promise. Okay?"

"Okay." They both breathed in synch.

"Oh by the way. I spoke to a few of the prosecutors who worked on the case with your father in the past about the events." Namjoon informed, hope beginning to brew inside of you.

"AND?" You yelped in curiosity, your relaxed positions changing into an enthusiastic one.

"Nothing." He spoke out flatly.

"Oh." You let your shoulder slump as you walked into the lobby of your work office, gloomy making your way to the elevator, well that was anti-climatic.

"When I interviewed them it was like they were all reluctant to answer my questions. They were all very nervous. Like something was going to happen to them if they did say anything." Your brown kitted, but then realised the contract you have to sign before investigating the case. All contracts state that speaking of the case outside of work is prohibited.

"It's apart of our contract." You simply replied.

"Hmm, that makes sense," Yoongi added.

"But they all agree that the case has more than met the eye. They said something riddle like but I don't quite remember." You hummed in response, carefully listening to Namjoon.

"The obvious may not be the answer. I don't know something like that." Yoongi finished off Namjoon's sentence.

"The obvious may not be the answer...." You repeated aloud. "Obvious may not be the answer. Not be the answer."

"What we did in the past scared me for life, You didn't plan on killing him straight away, I~." It was then you remembered back to your interview with Vincent, Dou's ex-boyfriend.

You went to pass him a tissue and retreated to get more from the dispenser. Turning back to him, you swore you saw something in his eyes. Not tears but a smirk.

"He deserves it for cheating on me." That specific line rang through your heard like there was no tomorrow.

"Him." You unknowingly spoke aloud. Not realising you had reached your office floor and that Yoongi and Namjoon had been calling out your name during your thinking process.

It all made sense. Dou didn't kill Jungkook. It was his ex-boyfriend! That would explain his odd behaviour. He told her the twisted truth to get revenge on Dou for cheating on him. He had the right motive and not to the mention not actually admitting that Dou the killed Jungkook. He stopped after it and you could bet what he was about to say next bit saved himself. "HIM!" You exclaimed in realisation, someone literally needed to put a light bulb next to your head as the idea became more clear, it would have lightened up straight away.
