Chapter 7:The chase

As I was walking up the bleacher in the gym for a homecoming pep rally.

I could hear people whispering about what happened to my nose. It's been happening since I got to school this morning. I heard everything from I got into a fight to getting kicked in the face by a horse.

I sat down next to Brittney she had on her cheer uniform with long blonde hair in a ponytail she is actually a very pretty girl but her personality doesn't match her looks.

"What happened to your nose?"she said.

I told her I was practicing with Jake and he ended hitting me in the face with a ball. That was the story me, Monica, Jake and Maria came up with since I didn't want Brittney to know what really happened.

Monica didn't want her parents to find out she had boys in the house. She told me her parents were super religious.
Brittney looked at me.
"So what about football?"she asked.

"Im off the team for a few weeks."
She nodded.

"You can try out for the track," she said.

I told her I thinking about signing up for the tutoring program it's a good way to credits and it looks good to colleges.

From the look on her face I knew she wanted to say something. But the cheer coach called her so she got up and walked down the bleachers.While watching her I seen Monica and Maria sitting on the other side of bleachers next to us.
I looked at her I seen her look at me but then she quickly looked away. Things have been awkward since things happened. She could look me in the eyes when she's on my face but at school, she barely looks at me..

We kept exchanging looks while I was watching the cheerleaders get everyone excited for homecoming. Jake sat next to me
"what's up with you two?" he asked.

"Who?" I asked.

"You and Monica," he said

I looked at her.

"I don't know," I said shrugging my shoulders.

"You need to kick Brittney to the curb she's a bitch."

"Excuse me!" I heard.

I turned around and seen it was Brittney she was angry. I didn't realize she came back.

"What did you call me."she said looking at Jake narrowing her eyes.

He looked back at her.

"Your a bitch!" he said to her.

Everyone started looking in our direction. Then they started arguing and she looked at me.

"Brandon aren't you going to say something!"

I just sat there and said nothing I heard people whispering and laughing.

"Fuck You!" she said to me.

Then the principal told her to come with him to his office and she grabbed her things and left. After that, the pep rally was over and everyone started heading back to class.

"Why did you do that I said to Jake.

"I wasn't wrong she is a bitch," he said defending himself.

I didnt say anything I was pissed but Jake was right..

We were walked into the locker room.
"You didn't tell anyone about what happened right?" I asked.

He laughed.
"No, I didn't tell anyone how Monica sat on your face and broke your nose."

He went back to laughing as he started changing into his uniform. Then we heard another locker slam as it was one of the guys from the team. Jake and I said nothing as he walked out.

We walked to the football field and I sat on the bleachers by the track.

As the football team was doing drills and a gym class was running laps around the track. I was reading a book one of my favorite things to do.

I looked up and seen Monica coming up to the bleachers wearing a red shirt and black gym shorts. She looked me as she grabbed her water bottle.

"Hey Monica"I said.

"I can't talk right now." she said
running back to the track.

Before I knew it I found myself running from the bleachers to keep up with Monica she was really fast. I caught up with her on the track.

"What are you doing?"she asked still running.

"Why do you keep running from me?"I asked.
