Chapter 21:Not Letting Go

I looked over at Monica as she was smiling at the crowd she was her eyes we're on Jake.

I couldn't hold this off any longer.

Once the music started playing.
I walked off the stage I tried to walk over to Monica but then Brittney came up.

"Hey Congrats babe,"she said.

"Thanks, I said.

"Whats wrong with you just won homecoming king?"

Then she looked at me
"Is it because I didn't win Homecoming Queen?"

"Brittney I need to talk to you I sighed.
"Well tell me, "she said.

I looked at the floor.
"We should go talk privately ."I said

We were sitting in my truck I was sitting in the driver's seat, Brittney was sitting in the passenger seat.

"Are the rumors true?"

"Yes they are true,"I said just starting at the street across from us.

"You Bastard!" she shouted.
Then started slapping the she shit out of my arm I did my best to stay calm.

"Look I've been wanting to move on for a while now, we're going different directions anyway,"I told her.

She slumped in her seat and look straight ahead.

"Is it Monica?"

"No"
I couldn't tell her that I was cheating on her with Monica that was just going to cause more drama.
Monica to get attacked because of me.

"I'm not stupid Brandon,I been hearing the rumors," she shouted.

Then went back to slapping the side of my arm again.

"There not true it was with a girl from another school."

Brittney sighed and shook her head.

"Tonight of all nights you choose to do
this," she shouted and she was crying.

I started to feel bad.
"I had to too waiting any longer would've been wrong,

I dont want to hurt you, " I said trying to calm her down.

We been dating for two years.
I never thought this was going to be happening. 

"Did you fuck her in my house?"

"No I didn't, I told her.

I was avoiding that one I couldn't tell her I fucked Monica in the basement.

"I can't believe you,"she said.

"Im sorry."

I actually felt bad but I was doing the right thing.

She got out and slammed the door as hard as she could.

I watched her stormed off I could see the fumes floating off of her.

I sighed and waited until she was gone the I got out and walked back to the school.
I saw Jake standing on the side of the school not to far from the door. He was smoking a cigarette I walked up to him and stood beside him.

"Whats up with you?"
I put my hands in my pockets.

"I finally broke up with Brittney."

"Thats good,"he said taking another puff of his cigarette.

"Thanks for covering me now I can ask out Monica.

He laughed.
"Good Luck," he said.

I looked at him confused.
"What do you mean?"

He put out his cigarette out on the ground.

He looked at me.
"She's my girlfriend, " he said.

I was pissed.

"Really dude I wanted you to take her to homecoming, not date her."

"Why you always got to have your way."
He was getting defensive.

"I actually like Monica and want to be with her. He said

"You know I wanted to be with her first," I said.

"But yet you stayed with Brittney until now."
I ignored that.
"Look you can't just steal Monica from me your my best friend," I explained to him.

"I'm sorry man but she's my girlfriend now." he said.

Then he walked back inside I heard the music fading out as I stood there.

I liked Monica first maybe I waited too long.
