if i wait around
for you to love me,
this loneliness might never fade.
i don't want to be trapped
in between longing and life,
waiting for either the other shoe
or the sky to drop.
if i plan to keep
this floor beneath my feet
i can't stand around and
wait for it to fall.
so i'll say those three words
to myself until you're ready to.
and even if you never do,
i'll just say it for the both of us.
