I'd almost always lived with my mom and whatever guy she was living with at the time... until I wasn't.

Mom: Can't you just not be smart for a minute and do what I say? We've payed a lot of money for this so just LEAVE.
Jackie: FINE. If you want to let another family adopt me, that's just fine with me! I didn't wanna be spun around your finger anymore anyways.

I was 16 and my mom was letting Olivia and Will Quaine adopt me. They're my moms bosses. They have AuraMedia under their name, which is one of the biggest media companies in L.A. where I would soon be living. Oh and if you didn't know, the Quaines are the richest family in California.

Olivia and Will had 1 kid. He was 25, and his name is Dillon. Dillon was an actor in Castillo En La Colina, the most watched soap opera, and he could sing. He never recorded anything, but he sang sometimes with his friends and would put it on his snapchat story.

Dillon was excited to have a sister. He personally thought that having a girls point of view would make his love life better as he would understand girls better. Dillon was single for the past few years as his girlfriend who he was dating on set as well, had dumped him because she couldn't bring herself to love him. Hayley and Dillon are still best friends.

I wasn't scared of moving. Honestly never even cared. What I was scared of though was leaving my friends and boyfriend behind. Shawn had been my boyfriend for 6 months (it's June). Before that I'd been tutoring his little sister Aaliyah, since I was in grade 6. Shawn is a year older than me and is graduating next year.

My best friends were Ethan and Grayson Dolan. As far as friends at school go, I wasn't popular but everyone knew me. I was captain of the dance team and I was everyone's friend but no ones best friend. This was probably affected because I had 1) the highest overall average in the 10th grade and 2) my best friend Hope lived in Connecticut.

On the first day of grade 10...

----////----////----////----////----

It was just before first period and I'm sitting beside the only good friend I have in my science class, Mackayla. Behind us through the back door we hear two noisy guys enter the class.

Jackie: Oh lord please don't sit near us, pleaseeeee don't sit near us.
Mackayla: Do you know them?
Jackie: No they must be new but I don't want to- *whisper* damn!
Mackayla: Ughhhh.

They sat right behind us. They stayed quiet though, just looking at their brand new books. I knew I had to give them a fair shot and get a chance to know them before judging them. I turn around.

Jackie: Hi I'm Jackie! Im captain of the dance team here at OCI You must be new to this school.
Ethan: Yeaaa we just transferred schools. I'm Ethan. And this is my twin brother Gra-
Grayson: GRAYSON THE TOTALLY AWESOMER TWIN.
Mackayla: Haha definitely the awesomer twin.
Jackie: Awesomer isn't a word Mac. This is why you have to many contacts under L.
Mackayla: I SAID YOU WERE A LOSER ONE TIME AND YOU HAD TO GO AND PROVE YOUR POINT! *laughs*
Jackie: Well, I was right wasn't I?
Grayson: I'm so confused.
Mackayla: Jackie bet me that whoever had more contacts under L was the bigger loser and I had twice as many as her
Jackie:*shrugs* Notmy fault you have your dad's contacts too
Science Teacher: All right class today is day one. I am the sun and you revolve around me. Listen up and pass the course, it's that simple. Today we are starting circuits. Pick up your leads, etc. And get going!

About 2 weeks later, I'd learned the twins, Shawn and my own timetable by heart.

Jackie: Science, French, Geography, English
Grayson: Science, Math, English, Spanish
Ethan: Science, Spanish, Geography, Business
Shawn: Math, Vocals, French, Spanish

After the first week, the twins hadn't made any friends. Everyone thought they were too "different". I felt sorry for them, but Mackayla kept telling me not to worry because they have each other, and they would be fine.
We were in science again and the teacher told us to get into groups of three and create a parallel circuit. I looked behind me to see if anyone was with the twins. Everyone had a group except Henry, the twins, Mackayla , Sherrie and I.

Henry: Hey Mac can I join your group?
Mackayla: We already have 3. Go with the twins.
Henry: Those F-
Jackie: -It's ok I'll go with the twins

I turn around and smile my competition smile. It's big bright and says I'm happy and confident. It's also so so fake. I hope the twins weren't paying attention to our conversation. I pull my stool with me to behind their lab table and sit between them.

Jackie: Hi, I hope you don't mind that I'm joining you. Noticed no one had joined you.
Grayson: Yea... let's get started. Any chance you know what you're doing?
Jackie: Yup!

We built the circuit easily since I'd done this before and the twins picked it up easily. The bell for second period was about to ring.

Jackie: Where do you guys usually eat lunch?
Ethan: In the Business hallway.
Jackie: The loser- I mean oh uh how about you come sit outside the auditorium with me and my best friend Shawn, and all the GIA students.
Ethan: What's GIA?
Jackie: Gifted In the Arts.
Ethan: Sure.
Grayson: Yea thanks.

I dash out of my second period class eager to see Shawn. We don't have any classes together since he is a year older than I am. Lunch is the little time where we get to see each other. He always has a new song he's working on, and he is honestly gifted.

I look around because Ethan and Grayson should be meeting with my by our lockers soon. Then I see them, but they look angry... Henry is right beside them talking with a huge smile on his face. As they near me, Henry dumps his coke down their backs.

Jackie: What the fuck was that for?
Henry: What's the matter Jackie? Have you replaced me with them.
Jackie: You were a shit friend and an even worse boyfriend. Go get high with your new girl toy.
Henry: Will do.

Henry walks out.

Grayson: You dated HIM?
Jackie: Believe it or not, he was actually a good boyfriend until his parents started having problems. He turned to drugs instead of me.
