Chapter 3

Here I am, sitting on some stupid plane on the way to Troy, Alabama. The weird thing is, she could have just driven me there! It's only like a four hour ride. I guess she wanted to get rid of me fast.

Now, I have to sit by some complete weirdo. As I sit down, I wait to find out who I'm stuck by throughout the ride.

Just kidding, I don't wait. I ignore whoever it is and put in my headphones. I press shuffle and lie my head on the window. Somebody taps on my shoulder and I'm quick to look up.

"Hi, I'm Chandler," the boy smiles. Why does he feel the need to talk to me? He sits down and waits for a reply.

"I'm Adalyn," I smile back. His features are striking. Blonde hair with deep blue eyes. He's got a defined jaw and top it off with the perfect smile.

"You're headed to Alabama, too?" he asked. Obviously. But I nodded my head to be nice and decided to pause my music.

"I'm coming in from Colorado. Well, I'm from there. I was visiting aunt in Texas for a while. Now I'm going to Troy to see my biological mom," he explains.

"I'm going to Troy, too," I tell the boy, "I'm visiting my biological mom, too."

"Do you think...?" he asked. Could he be my biological brother? Of course not. He probably came from another woman.

"I don't know..." I looked away from Chandler and thought for a moment.

"What's your last name?" I ask.

"Teegan," he answered. He kept his biological last name, too.

"That's my biological last name." I laughed. I can't believe this. Well, at least I know that I'm not sitting by an absolute freak.

Our conversation stopped and I started to listen to music. The first song to come on was Harry Potter in 99 seconds by Jon Cozart. I love this song! I'm an extreme Potterhead. I have multiple Pottermore accounts.

I'm sorted into Ravenclaw in all the accounts. Well, except for one. I tend to forget passwords, so I have to make a new one. You can't pick your user name, so I forget that, too. In the last one I made, I became a Slytherin.

It's the only one that I answered truthful. It's weird though, I like Slytherin. I put the thought aside and open up my favorite app, Wattpad. I have my phone on airplane mode, but I filled it with new stories to read on the plane.

They might just be Dramoine fan-fictions. (Daco and Hermione fan-fictions) I'm so weird that it isn't funny. Chandler looks over my shoulder and speaks, "you ship Dramoine, too?" Why is he looking over my shoulder? Again, I decide to be nice and answer his question.

Is he like my twin or something? I might ask.

"Yaaas gaga yaaas." I laugh and Chandler asks the question before I do.

"Adalyn, when were you born?" he asks and continues, "They always told me that I was separated from my twin when we were put up for adoption."

I've never heard this, so I'm probably not his twin. But, that woman did keep secrets from me her whole life. So did my biological mom.

"June 10," I tell Chandler. A big smile appears on his face.

"Adalyn, you're my twin."

This is not what I expected to experience on this plane ride. I guess my life in Alabama may turn out to be good. But, you never know how it can turn out to be.

"You know, Adalyn, they always told me that our parents gave us up because they couldn't handle a child. Or, well, two," he spoke.

"I was told that they were dead," I start to tear up, but I don't exactly know why. All the lies I have been told are now coming back to haunt me as I see the truth. But, why are they haunting me? I didn't tell them. Is it because I'm a part of the lies?

"Your adoptive parents were probably just trying to help you and keep you from the facts that will hurt you. Well, that's what my adoptive parents told me," he tells me.

"We shouldn't be having this conversation on a plane, Chandler," I sigh and lean back into my seat.

"Yeah, I guess," he sighed and pulled out a book. The title read 'The Reckoning' by Kelley Armstrong. I think I've read it before. Is he a book nerd just like me?

I continue to read my Wattpad book and listen to my music as the plane ride progresses. This is a really good book. As I continue to read, I get caught up in the book and I'm disappointed when I see that it's not updated.

It makes me think of the Harry Potter Barbie parody.

"I'm online all the time

There's this one that I love, hasn't been updated

I admin some pages and I write head cannons

They want more when I have writers block"

Is it sad that I remember those lyrics? Sort of like I remember those spells. I guess I'm a nerd.

A short time later

I hear a faint snoring besides me and Chandler is fast asleep with his book on his chest. He looks like a little kid. Chandler continues to snore and he starts to wake up. Only because I start to tap his shoulder.

"Wait, are we getting off yet?" he asks and yawns. I nod my head and stand up. I stretch out my arms a little bit and I feel as if my back cracks a couple hundred times. Chandler stands up and grabs his pillow from top of my head.

This is so wrong, but my brother is hot. Why does he have to be my brother? Maybe he's not and he's playing around. Okay, stop. I'm fourteen and this is stupid. I walk off of the plane and walk into the terminal. I grab my bag and walk with Chandler.

There's a big sign with the names 'CHANDLER, ADALYN, ALEXANDER.' Chandler and I walk to the sign and there's a lady and a man with the same blonde hair as Chandler and I. They smile at us and I see another boy with them. He looks just like Chandler. I wonder if we're triplets.

'You must be Adalyn and Chandler," the lady smiles and hugs both of us. I'm taken aback by her actions and I look towards the other boy. He looks mad. Chandler looks the same way.

"You've grown up so much since I last saw y'all," the male speaks.

"Yeah, gave us up at birth," Chandler speaks angrily and stands there with his arms over his chest.

"We didn't have a choice, Chandler. We had to give up you, Adalyn, and Alexander," he sighs.

"Tell us why," the boy who must be Alexander asked.

"When we get to the house," the lady speaks and motions for us to walk with her.
