Chapter 10

I can't believe that I'm finally fifteen, with my real parents, and my best friends are with me. But, no time to think, it's party time! Well, I might want to think a little bit, so that I'm not wild or crazy, or dumb. Everyone made me put on a dress, and I'm not happy.

Dresses, dresses, dresses. I would rather be in a pair of shorts with a t-shirt, but nope! She managed to put me in a turquoise kind of dress with lace over it. We're all wearing dresses, even Macey, which is surprising. Macey hates dresses.

"Adalyn, oh my gosh, I haven't seen you in forever!" I heard a familiar scream. Today has been filled with a lot of screaming.

"Tori!" I scream back and hug her. I'm about to cry, but I don't. I've missed all these girls so much. It's been only about a week or two, but they're like sisters to me.

"Group selfie!" Macey yells and then Brennin takes a picture of all of us and then we all take a giant selfie, which is sort of hard since there's a bunch of us.

"Are you ready to partaaay?" Brennin asks and then starts to lead me downstairs. I don't like my appearance simply because it's a dress and heels. Like I said, converse and jeans are my kind of thing.

Who all is invited, anyway? I don't know many people, especially since I moved here only a couple weeks ago. I guess I'll find out when I arrive downstairs.

It's not that quiet downstairs, so I figure out that there's some of the Labrant's friends and some of my mom's co-workers sons and daughters. They each have a red cup in their hand, but it's not alcohol.

My eyes meet a pair of striking blue ones and I smile and wave at Lucas. He smiles back and walks over to me.

"And here we have, the birthday girl!" Brennin yells and everybody's attention is focused on me. Lucas grabs my hand and brings me into the crowd. I have hard time walking in the heels, but I soon get used to it.

Why are so many people here? I barely even know the one's that I've met. I sort of stick to Lucas' side and meet some of his friends. I look around and I see that all of my friends are scattered across the living room and in the kitchen eating.

"Happy birthday, Adalyn!" somebody whispers in my ear and hugs me. I turn around to see Brady. Who invited him? I move away from his grip and walk over to Laci.

"Who invited Brady?" I ask and point towards the male talking to Clay and Matthew. Of course they would be here.

"I think your mom back in Louisiana did. I don't think she knew that you and him are broken up," she sighs and rubs my shoulders.

"Go have fun and talk to Lucas; yeah, I saw you over there," she laughs and walks with me to where Lucas is.

"Who was that?" Lucas asks, referring to Brady. I sigh before telling him about Brady.

"Oh, my, I'm so rude. I'm Lucas," he changes the subject and introduces himself to Laci.

"I'm Laci," she waves and laughs. He laughs along with her and we're interrupted once again with Brady coming over here.

"Adalyn, how are you?" he asks and Lucas puts his arm over my shoulder to give Brady a hint. I will have to thank Lucas for this later.

"I'm wonderful," I tell him and continue to talk to Lucas and Laci. He finally takes a hint and walks away.

"Thanks, Lucas." I sigh and step a step away from him.

"Oh my gosh, this is my song!" Laci exclaims and starts singing along to Jon Cozart. I didn't even realize that music was playing. It's his song, 'Movie Villain Medley'. I absolutely love this song.
