Chapter 9
I woke up to the sound of whispering beside me. I open my eyes and I see three figures looking down on me with big smiles.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ADALYN!" all three figures scream. I push them off and roll off of the bed. It takes a minute before I realize that my three best friends are the ones who screamed in my face. I quickly look up and scream back in excitement.
I get up and hug them tightly.
"How's life being fifteen?" Katelyn asked and propped her hand on her hip. I laugh and shake my head at her.
"I've only been fifteen for a couple hours, and I've been asleep for all of them," I tell her and walk into the bathroom to do my morning routine.
"So, today, we're going shopping, lunch, and then a party!" Macey says excitedly.
Laci hits her in the ta-ta before yelling at Macey, saying, "She isn't supposed to know about the party!" Macey and Laci laugh about it and then another person walks into the room. Peyton!
"Are all of y'all staying here for the weekend?" I ask them all while I give Peyton a hug.
"Well, our parents are letting us stay for two weeks!" Peyton makes a shrill scream when she says this. I think we're all excited.
"Anyway, go get your booty dressed. We have stuff to do and talk about," Laci pushes me towards my closet and they all sit on my bed. I put on some shorts and a crop top along with a pair of converse to wear.
"Let's go get breakfast," I say, motioning towards the stairs so that we could go get food.
"So, who's driving us?" I ask my mom when she get downstairs.
"Brennin agreed to bring you and she said that she would go shop on her own if y'all would like to spend some time with just you four," she explains. I nod my head and bring the cereal down from the cabinet.
I pour some in a bowl with milk and eat quickly. Wait, did the girls eat?
"Yes, we ate," Laci responds. I give her a look before she tells me that I said that out loud. Sounds like me.
Before I know it, Brennin is here and it's time to go shopping. Again, we get the question if we' like to be alone in the mall.
Peyton says no, and then we all agree with Peyton. I think Peyton was being nice, but Brennin is actually really cool, so we'll get our space. We talk a little bit about how it is in Louisiana, but nothing much has changed.
When we get there, we all head for American Eagle. We buy a couple items there and then we go from store to store. Nothing really is exciting. Except we tend to laugh really loud and attract attention.
"Tori is coming down later today," Macey tells me.
Laci hits her in the ta-ta once again. "Macey! Stop spilling the surprises." Laci sighs heavily and moves on to the next rack filled with clothes.
Macey makes an apologetic face and looks at the piece of jewelry in her hands to ignore Laci and Katelyn's stares. Brennin had left us a couple minutes ago because she spotted John Stephen.
I continued to look through Forever 21's dresses and I picked a cute one on clearance. Clearance is my friend when it comes to shopping. I check out and then we're on to our next store. We're attracted to the shirtless models in front of Hollister, so we make our way over there and go inside.
Although, we don't buy anything. We just sort of look at the models in front of the store. After about ten minutes of staring at hot guys, we make our way to find Brennin, who is walking towards us.
"Like the models?" Brennin laughs. We laugh along with her and then she tells me that one of the models is Lucas' brother.
"Who's Lucas," Peyton asks and makes an oo la la face along with the question.
"I'll tell you at lunch," I promise and then we continue to walk around for another thirty minutes before we're all hungry.
I look at the time to see that it's almost one o'clock. Wow, we've been shopping a lot longer than expected. We go our separate ways to find food and then meet up at a table. I ended up getting Chinese while they all got chick-fil-a. Chinese is by far my favorite food. Well, type of food.
"So, who is this Lucas you speak of?" Peyton wiggles her eye brows. I feel heat going through my cheeks a little bit.
"Awe, she's blushing," Katelyn jokes and pinches my cheeks. I laugh and then explain that he's a boy I met while bowling.
"Is he coming to the party?" Macey asks. I shrug my shoulders before answering.
"I don't think anybody invited him. I wasn't even supposed to know about the party," I focus my gaze on Macey for the last part of what I said.
"I invited him," Brennin smiles and then continues to eat. Thank you Brennin!
"You're welcome," Brennin states. Did I say that aloud again? I really need to start thinking more about what I say.
When we're done with lunch, we immediately go back to shopping. I go straight to the clearance rack in every store, but in one, I come across a similar face.
"Hey, Lucas," I smile and walk over to him.
"Hey, Adalyn," he smiles and motions for me to give him a hug. I give him one and then he wishes me a happy birthday.
"How old are you, now?" he asks.
"Finally fifteen," I smile and continue to talk to him.
"Adalyn, what do you think of this?" Peyton comes up to me and shows me an outfit, but gets distracted by Lucas.
"Hi, I'm Lucas," he smiles and introduces himself.
"I'm Peyton, one of Adalyn's friends from Louisiana," she smiles.
"Well, I have to go, but happy birthday," he hugs me again and waves goodbye to Peyton.
She waits a minute after Lucas disappears to speak.
"That was Lucas?" she asks and sits down on a chair. I nod my head and laugh at her.
"He's cute!" she exclaims and then stands back up.
"How about we just shop for now," I suggest and follow Peyton back to the clearance isle.
I've missed these girls.
