An Unexpected Reunion

Chapter 2

Hermione's POV

The day dragged. Every second felt like an hours, every hour felt like a day. I just couldn't get my mind off what Ginny told me. The scene kept playing along in my head. It's just not Ron, it cant be Ron. This has just made my day completely horrible.

I looked at the clock on the wall - 2pm. Looks like I'm going to have to emerge from my office and go and get some dinner. I left and walked down to the big canteen, carried my papers with me so I could carry on looking at my work whilst eating. Obviously with my mind being somewhere else, I wasn't looking where I was going and bumped into someone. Papers went flying everywhere and I went head over feet onto the floor.

"Oh goodness, I'm so sorry here let me help you up..Granger?" the mans voice said as he bent down. I looked up, the voice sounding familiar.

"Malfoy? Oh sorry I didn't see you". He looked different.

His hair looked more blonde, no bags under his eyes, he'd aged - but like all of us. He looked very handsome, his eyes looked full of life. He looked like a totally different person and that intrigued me.

"Its okay Granger, its erm nice to see you. I've not long started, I'm Head of Magical Transportation." He told me, I'm not too sure if hes boasting or just creating a conversation whilst helping me pick up my papers.

"Thanks Malfoy for helping, yes its nice to see you too. Head of Magical Transportation? Oh yes I heard someone new had just taken up the position but wasn't sure who it was. Thats brilliant, I'm Head of MLE. I'm sure I'll be seeing a lot of you. Anyway I must run, I'm famished!"

We exchanged goodbyes and went our separate ways. I've not see Malfoy since graduation, we decided to be mutual with each other, no hard feelings or arguing and I'm quite surprised at how he was just then. He also looked like an angel..no Hermione don't think that.

"Mione, Mione". Someone shouted me from across the canteen. I looked around and it was, oh no its Ron. He's coming over to speak, oh no - okay calm it girl, calm down.

"Hey babe, just a quick one - I'm going out tonight with a couple of the lads, just a few drinks and all, so yeah don't wait - ill be home by 11pm, is that alright?" I nodded, he gave me a quick kiss and off he went with his sandwich.

Maybe Ginny was right, maybe we need to do some investigating.

After I grabbed my lunch and went back to my office the day continued to drag, I'd had visitors pop in and out all day, none of importance but at least it kept my mind of things for a while. It was 4:30 on the clock and I know Ginny is finishing at 5, so she should be here soon. Ginny didn't want to work at the ministry but after her accident playing quidditch where she got pushed off her broom, she decided to retire and join us all. I ended up bagging her the assistant Head if Magical Law Enforcement. Even though she was my colleague I hardly ever saw her.

My mind then turned to Draco - saying his name felt foreign to me. I would never say it to his face although he had changed, he has gone extremely handsome and was looking much better than he did. I hadn't seen him in about 5 years. No one knew what he did after graduation. He ended up coming back to redo his 7th year, much to Harry's dismay. But I told him that everyone deserves a second chance. He soon warmed to him when he found out how much of a nice character he was. It wasn't till a couple of days before graduation that I got to speak to Draco properly. He was walking the grounds, he seemed to be taking it all in - when I walked up to him and asked to speak to him. I told him I forgave him, and I want him to have a god damn good life because he deserves it. That was the moment we became civil, the moment he started to look attract-

"Open the door 'mione nowwwww" I was brought out of my thoughts by some whining women. I flicked my wand and the door opened, to which Ginny ran in.

"Have you seen him? He had aged so so so well! He's like a silver fox but blonde, a dark horse, the man of your dreams". I could only imagine she was talking about Draco.
