I wake up to hair in my eyes and I brush it away. It swishes back and I open my eyes and brush it away again. It's blonde. I look up to a smiling face leaning over me. I yawn, stretch and lift my head. I'm exhausted, setting up that trap took all of my energy. I climb down the ladder and walk towards the cereal section. I grab a box of Cheeries and grab a jug of milk. I look at the sell-by date and read. Tommorow. I sigh.

I grab two bowls and bring them back to the bunk bed. I hold the bowl infront of her but she doesn't take it. Her head is arched down and she won't talk. I wonder what's wrong? I've never seen her like this before, to be fair, I still barely know her.

'Whats up?' I ask.

'I don't know. I just.... I miss my family. I mean, I can't believe my mums gone. I'm just feeling a little lonely at the moment, i'll be fine.' She says,  looking up and flashing a brief and fake smile at me. An Idea pops into my head and I try to form it together in my head.

'How about this, we get a ladder, get on up the roof and search for survivors? We might find someone you like, we'll save lives in the process....plus, you might make friends! Alright!?' I ask.

She doesnt move for a moment then she looks up and agrees, with a genuine smile this time. I pull her to her feet and we walk towards the D.I.Y. section. I drag a ladder that can be extended to the entrance, being careful to avoid the tripwire and go outside. I extend the ladder to its full length and lay it against the roof. I look up at the ladder and remember how scared I am of heights.

'Ladies first..right?' I say.

'Noooo, can you go first? Please?' She begs.

She puts on her puppy dog eyes and I can't resist. I sigh and face my fears. I gulp and begin to climb upwards. Around a metre up Evelyn passes me a bag full of atleast one of each weapon we've made and a bunch of other equipment, so we can try them out. I climb up and when I finally reach the top, Evelyn follows. I climb upon the roof and gasp. I gase at the hordes of zombies below us.

Its unbelieveable. I look around to see if I know anyone. I see someone from my school in the year below me, Martin. I wasn't friends with him, but it's strange seeing someone you used to know, like...this. I sigh... and chuck some marbles at him.

I needed to test the new weapons out and we had plenty of everything so it doesnt really matter what we use. A marble hits Martin and the rest lay infront of him. He steps on one and goes flying. I start laughing and notive how weird I am. This boy has been transformed into a mindless monster, has probably been throught hell in the last few days, his family are probably missing him...and here I am, throwing marbles, as you do, laughing at him.....Oh well, he was annoying.

I slap myself in the face as I notice something. I can use the fireworks to alert the authories or other survivors at night! Stupid me! I tell Evelyn to wait there and I go get a family size tent and some blankets. I get the one that is on display and carry it to the ladder. Evelyn pulls it up with a rope and lays it out. I climb up the ladder and begin testing our weapons.

I grab the watergun and fill it with the barbeque-lighting liquid. I shoot it at the nearest zombie, he's missing an ear. When his head is covered in the stuff, I try to figure out a way to light it. I scrunch up a piece of paper and set it alright with a match. I throw it at the zombies head and it strikes! Yeeeaah, first throw!

It takes a minute to light but when it does, the earless zombie runs around the place and drops of the hot liquid go on the other zombies. When he eventually falls to the ground, from the eyebrows up, it's just black. Smoke is erupting from his head. Evelyn looks disgusted and covers her mouth.

Next, I grab a bucketfull of similiar knives. Evelyn decides to help. I grab one and aim for the head of a nearby zombie. It misses, but strikes the zombie in the throat. Evelyn throws one and it misses completely, going through the zombie's foot. It has no shoes on for some reason. It screams but only manages a kind-of squeal. Blood shoots out like a fountain.
