"What do you mean, exam?" Eli growled, "You don't die in an exam."
"You do if it's to become Assassins for the Prince's secret escort." The lady answered calmly.
I looked over at Eli and Evelyn, who looked to exhausted to care about the Secret Escort. The people in front of us must have figured that out too.
"Let's go." The man with brown hair ordered, "The others are waiting and I don't believe you want to be standing in front of this tunnel when the sun goes down."
As if we found new energy, we raced over to them. They lead us over to some horses beyond the row of lite torches. When I tried to climb on the saddle of the black horse, I found that I was to tired to pull myself up.
"Don't strain yourself." The man with the black hair told me before helping me up then climbing on behind me. "There were four of you weren't there?"
"He choose to stay behind. He thought someone would come to save us." I answered, noticing how tired I sounded. They started riding down a path that with lit with torches. These must lead back to the castle. My guess was proven correct when we rode through the castle gate to the stables.
"Zoe, Robert, show them to the mess hall." The black haired man ordered as I dropped off the horse. They began to lead the way, as we, wordlessly, followed them through the castle. As soon as, we entered the large room, all eyes turned to us.
"Take a seat. We'll get you some food." The lady, Zoe, explained.
I lead the way to the closest seats and sat down. Eli and Evelyn sat down across from me. My shoulder and leg hurts. It was only then I remembered that I was bitten. I'm sure they were bitten also.
"You all took your sweet time getting here." The girl next to me sneered, "Can't handle a little test?"
"Forget this." I growled standing, " I'm to tired to deal with people."
"Let's go to this table then." Evelyn encouraged leading me over to an empty table in the corner. I sat down with Eli and Evelyn sitting down on either side of me.
"I hope we're getting paid a lot for this." Eli growled, "I'm not sure I can fight those things every night for nothing."
I nodded before noticing three people walking over to us. They sat down across from us with clear curiosity on their faces.
"Don't mind Luna. She thinks that because she's a knight she's better than all of us." the girl replied rolling her eyes, " She says she's an assassin, but we all know better.
"I'm sorry, but who are you?" I asked.
"I'm Ida, an archer." she greeted, " My twin brother is Hector, a swordsman."
"I'm Ivan, a wizard." the boy with, shocking, white hair cheered before frowning, "Those tests are hard, aren't they?"
"Sure." I agreed eyeing them up and down. I didn't even see a bruise on any of them.
"What kind of test did you three do?" Evelyn questioned
"Archers had to hit a target at different distance. Only the top three made it though." Ida announced.
"The knights trained with Lord Crestern." Hector explained.
"Wizards had to use a levitation spell to get out of a deep hole. Luckily, our trainers told us how to do that."
Remembering the manner lessons mom made me go through, I strained a smile.
"How nice." I chirped.
"What about you three?" Ida asked, "You look like you just got out of battle."
"You can talk about that later." Robert's voice called from behind us, making me jump, "Here's your food. Eat fast. After a lecture from the Prince we're going to take you to a wizard to get healed."
"You look worse than we thought." Zoe murmured before I felt a hand on my shoulder. Looking up, I saw the man with black hair.
"Robert, go get Hazel." He ordered, "They need to be healed now."
Just a Robert ran off a trumpet blew. Everyone looked at the Prince as he walked in. A care free smile on his face.
"Congratulations to all of you. You are part of the Secret Escort."
I didn't even bother to listen to the rest of his speech. He's going to go on about the honor of being apart of his escort. There was a moment when I completely zoned out, until I heard Evelyn hit her head on the table.
"Don't fall asleep now." I sighed shaking her shoulder with my good arm.
She fell out of her seat. Allowing me the blood the side of her clothes.
"Get back." The man with black hair ordered as I jumped up to rush over and help, "The sorceress needs room to work."
I watched as a woman with bright red hair rushed over and waved her hand over Evelyn. Engulfing her in a light blue light. When the light faded, Evelyn opened her eyes. The cuts and bruises that were on her before were completely gone. I let out a sigh of relief before looking over at Eli, who seemed worried and confused.
"She's going to be okay." I reported then heard someone behind me clear their throat. It was the Prince standing behind us.
"Is everything okay over here?" He asked.
"One of our students fainted, Prince." Zoe explained bowing.
"I see," He muttered before looking me and Eli up and down, "It seems your test was difficult. You must be my assassins."
"Yes, Prince." I answered bowing.
"Excuse me, Prince," The red haired lady, Hazel, called, "I need to tend to their wounds."
"Right." He smiled then turned to the whole room, "When you leave tonight, I will talk with all of you in your groups. I hope you all take very good care of me." After those words, he left.
"Do you Assassins have to be so hard on your students?" Hazel snapped waving a hand over my head. At first, my body felt cold, then it warmed up. Glancing down at the bite on my shoulder, I saw that it was now only a white scar. Done with me, she started to heal Eli.
"We have to be, if they're going to be the best of the best." The man with black hair answered before turning to the three of us, "Hurry up and eat. After you do that you'll be shown to where you will be staying. We will be there shortly."
He walked away with Zoe and Robert close behind him.
"What on Earth happened to you?" Hector demanded as Hazel finished healing Eli. I glanced over at Eli and Evelyn who seemed unsure. There's a good chance our new teachers don't want us to share what we went through.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not sure we can tell you." I answered sitting down to eat.
