Carlos is impossible to find. I've been everywhere within the castle walls and even asked the other leaders in the other escort groups if they have seen him. None of them have, by the way. I shouldn't waste so much energy though. Even if I can't find him now, he'll probably be around for our next training session. Shrugging my shoulders, I turned around to go back to the assassin's building. Only to find Carlos standing right behind me.

"I've been looking for you." I sighed.

"I know and I imagine it's because you want this." He held out a large grey book that looked really old, " This is what you need to study. Every creature from the Great War is in there."

"Thanks." I replied, but still I have a couple of questions. He seemed to know that though.

"Come on. There is something I need to show you and I know you have a lot of questions." When he walked off, I followed. Something tells me he won't just tell me everything, so I might as well start asking.

"You admitted that you and the others were the ones who attacked the castle. Why did you do that, exactly?" I asked.

"There were to many people in the room ." He explained stopping and turning to me, "You were told that the King's Escort were watching you all and we were. We couldn't just pull out the ones we choose though. Parents would brag about their child and the Secret Escort members would be known. Thus we came up with a plan to attack the castle and take the chosen few.

"Then the parents would think that their child was taken by the attackers?" I checked as he started to push against a brick on the castle wall. The wall then split apart, revealing a hidden passage.

"We assassins use these passages to get around the castle, faster than the maids and butlers." He explained the motioned me to enter. I went in while still trying to figure out why I was chosen and what the other doors in that camber were.

"Why was I chosen?" Turning to him, I only got a glimpse of his shadow before the exit closed.

"You were chosen because you were smart." his voice called before his hand appeared on my shoulder and he started to push me through the darkness, "We noticed that you were cautious at the party. I was hoping you would become an assassin when we put you in that cavern."

"Then those other doors, were they for the other positions?" I asked, he pulled me to a stop.

"Yes, they were. We leave it to fate to decide who will be what. Had you went through one of the other doors you could have been a wizard, or a swordswoman." after he spoke a door opened, blinding me for a short while. When I could see again, we were outside the assassins' building.

"Is that all your questions?" I nodded, "Then go get some rest. You've all got running exercises before dinner."

"Yes sir," I muttered then headed inside. Eli and Evelyn were asleep on the couch. There were a couple of books open on the coffee table. Looks like they had been studying. Setting to book I had down with the other, I grabbed a blanket from the closest room and put it over them. Yawning myself, I laid down on the couch, so I was using Evelyn as a pillow.

I was asleep then awake like a flickering light. Eli was shaking my shoulder to wake me up.

"Come on, Maya. Carlos, Richard, and Zoe want us at the arena." He explained.

"Right." I groaned standing, "Let's go."

"What monster do you think they'll have us fight?" Evelyn questioned as we got closer to the arena.

"He said it was a running exercise, so maybe nothing." Eli muttered sounding unsure. Getting to the arena, we saw that Richard and Zoe were grinning as if they found something amusing. I already didn't like those looks.

"Look down there and tell me what you see." Carlos demanded. I peeked over the bars the frowned. There was a maze in the arena and a strange black smoke by the large wooden doors.

"It's a maze." I answered then saw that the latch was open with the rope going down to the bottom.

"Correct. Get in. When you hear the howl, start running." Richard chuckled.

"What about weapons?" Evelyn asked as I started to go down the rope.

"Figure your own way to safety," Zoe called as I reached the ground. Moving out of the way so Eli and Evelyn could land. When we were all on the ground we heard the growls and yelps of wolves. Shivering slightly from the chill that raced down my back before we started running to find safety.
