Humiliation

Everyone was tired the next day (me being one of them) but I was surprised at how easy it was to give away each cat.

"Aw!" Angelina Johnson cooed, petting the small head of Margo (That's the name of the small one that had gold fuz with a hairless belly. "Can I have this one?"

"Yes," I said with a smile. Her coe attracted attention from other girls, and curious glances from guys. "You can have her in a month, she still needs her mother now, though."

"Oh! They're kittens!" Katie Bell squeled, calling over her boyfriend. "Look!"

He came over, throwing embarrassed glances around before looking in the box curiously. His face softened emmeidiatly.

"Carlos loves cats," Katie said, nodding.

Carlos' eyes snapped towards her before he tried to snigger it off. "Okay, okay. I got to go, sweety."

Calros gave Katie a kiss before trudging back to his friends.

Katie rolled her eyes and fawned over the kittens with the other girls.

"I don't get it! I just don't!" I said, throwing the golden egg across the classroom.

Dani was stting on a desk with her feet on the chair, throwing unhelpful suggestions to get the egg to stop wailing.

"Why would they give us an idiotic egg?" I said, yanking on my hair, pretty sure that I was going crazy. "They just expect us to magically know what AHAHAHAAWAAAAAAAAAHEEEEEEE-" I mimicked the sound the egg made while Dani covered her ears, throwing me an annoyed glance. "Means? I mean, come on! Is a little sanity so hard to come by?"

"Obviously," Dani watched me yank at my hair in amusement. "You better be careful. I'm pretty sure bald is a deal braker for Cedric."

"Oh, please," I said, dropping my hands. "We both know perfectly well that I can grow my hair back in two seconds tops."

"Fine," Dani hopped off the desk and smiled at me, putting a hnd on my arm in smypathy. "Good luck in the second task, Nixie. You'll need it."

She skipped out of the empty classroom.

I signed loudly before going across the room and picking up the egg.

"You useless egg," I said, talking to it like it was human. "Taking up on my time. You know how long it's been since I had even a conversation with Cedric? How long I've kissed him? It's all your fault you stupid, idiotic, retarded golden egg. I hate you!"

I slammed it on the ground so hard it make a satisfactory sound. CRACK! I grinned until I felt unbelievable pain shoot up my leg. I screamed and sank to my knees.

"Help! Help!" I screamed, blinking the tears away.

I heard the door open and footsteps as someone rushed over to me.

"Nixie Potter?" I heard a male voice ask. I felt him pick me up bridal style and a cold object being lane down on my stomach. Then I fainted from the pain.

"Oooh, look, she's waking up already," I heard the familiar voice of Madame Promfrey say. "Now if you could just tell her that she is free to leave when she wakes..."

"Of course," I heard the voice of the boy who found me. His voice was charming, like he could pursuade you to do anything.

My eyes fluttered open and the first thing I noticed was the warm hand in mine. I snatched iot out and propped up on my elbows, blinking at the boy who was just holding my hand.
