Dear Belinda,
On our first day back, you looked... better. You seemed happier than when you left and I could see your glow returning. When you came up to me, a grin spreading from ear-to-ear, I couldn't help but smile back.
When you handed me a small box with a litte bow on top, I couldn't help but feel guilty seeing as I didn't get you a gift for Christmas. You immediately noticed my fearful face and told me it was okay. My heart melted at the gift inside: golden heart earrings.
"Don't get too excited," you told me. "They're plastic."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes as you laughed. It was the first laugh I heard from you in a while.
It sounded like a beautiful melody to an even better song.
Sincerely,
Delilah
