I walk to the cafeteria for lunch and plop down next to Zeke, who looks incredibly pissed off at something.
"What's up bro?"
"Nothing!" He snaps.
I scoot back a little and throw my hands up. "Jesus I'm just asking! No need to bite my head off."
"Then maybe you should mind your own business!" With that, he stands and storms off.
"Jesus." I mutter. "Who peed in his Cheerios?"
Lynn, who had been on the other side of Zeke, shook her head. "Shauna was snappy too. Left as soon as he came in." She jerked her head towards the door Zeke had left out of.
"Wonder what happened." I say.
She shrugs. "Whatever it is, I have a feeling we don't want to get into it."
I nod slowly. "Probably right."
"So?" She wiggles her eyebrows, making the piercing in her right one catch the light. (A/N I can't remember if she has a piercing or not, as I don't have the book with me, but that's just always how I pictured her.)
"What?" I ask, confused.
"How'd your date go?"
Oh. That.
I feel the smile slowly inch it's way across my face as I think of last night. Her sparkling eyes, her soft lips, her quiet voice when she said she'd never thought I'd ask.
"It went great." I say proudly. I'm not one to hide my feelings, and I'm certainly not about to hide my feelings about her.
Lynn smiles. "That's what I figured. I heard your little celebration at 1 in the morning."
I smirk a little at the thought of waking Lynn up because of my yell of joy.
"Awwe," I say in my best baby voice. "Did I interrupt Lynn's beauty sleep?"
She sends me a glare. "You did actually." Her eyes briefly scan my face. "Looks like you slept fine though."
I smile. Today I made sure I looked good, in case I ran into Tris.
"I don't need beauty sleep. This is my natural look." I say, raising my chin and puffing out my chest a bit.
Lynn rolls her eyes and says, "If that's your natural look you need a whole lot more beauty sleep than I do."
I'm about to reply when I hear a voice behind me. "Hey, he doesn't look that bad." I hear the smile in her voice and my breathing catches. I turn around, and my palms get sweaty.
This girl has so screwed you over.
I thought we established that.
We have. You just need to know how ridiculous it is.
You know, I don't really care.
We've established that too.
Oh shut up.
She's in a black button down blousy-thing with a black skirt that had gray belt going through it. I was fighting to keep my eyes off her legs, though it was getting increasingly harder the longer she stood there.
She blushes and looks down. She seems to regain her composure after a minute and smirks at me. "Like what you see?"
I bring my eyes to her face. "Very much so." I grab her hand and pull her down in the seat between me and Lynn, the one Zeke had occupied. "Why so dressed up though?" I knew for a fact that she didn't like skirts.
