That's it. I'm going. Keith tells himself for the 10th time today. He seems to be having a bit of trouble deciding if he's actually going to go try to find his friends and family or not.
*I'm sorry, I'm changing tenses, I'm going use past tense now, it's easier and faster. Thanks for understanding. :) *
They wouldn't care anyway... right? The red paladin asks, pacing back and fourth. The decorations of the McClain house were very comforting. Plants were placed perfectly in corners and upon table tops. The wall was a light grey with family pictures, everyone always smiling. A faint grin came to Keith's face.
He sighed. Alright then...
The red paladin had made up his mind.
"We're yo-ou goi-in'...?" Lance slurred, stumbling into the room. Keith turned, quite surprised. "Uhm... nowhere."
Lance had recovered from his sleepy state now and was more awake. "Doesn't look like nowhere to me." He mumbled, making sure that Keith heard him. "Lance, I swear, I wi--" Keith starts to yell. Lance puts a hand up, still too asleep to care what he said. "Yell at me if you want, I just care enough to make sure you're safe."
Keith had an bright pink dusting his cheeks. "Fine then," He remarked. "You're coming with me." Keith grabbed Lances wrist and pulled the sleepy blue paladin outside the house.
Out Keith pulled a phone that had an extra layer of dust lathering the case. He blew it away, like an iconic movie scene. Pressing the power button, the red paladin stared at the screen with hopeful eyes.
"Just my luck..." He said as the low battery icon flashed. Keith ran a hand down his face. Lance chuckled. "Use mine." He said, making Keith wonder why he was being so nice. Keith studied his carefree expression and the phone before snatching it. Keith accidentally pressed a whole lot of buttons before coming across the power button.
The blue phone responded with a ding and up came a screen of all the paladins together in one group. Pidge looked like a bird, with her two hands pressed against her shoulder in a "wing" type fashion. Shiro had a hand on Allura's shoulder, Coran was in the back with his hands up, like he just threw confetti. Hunk had his hand behind Lance's head making bunny ears. Lance, however, had one arm draped across Keith's shoulder, yet the black haired boy looked like a Grinch that had failed to steal Christmas.
Lance had his gentle breath over Keith's shoulder, slightly blushing at that photo. It was representing the team ad one whole.
That photo was taken the day that they managed to form Voltron. Their most successful day.
Keith suddenly hit Lance on the shoulder, which woke him up pretty good. "Ow! What the hell? Son of a-- Keith?! What was that for?" Lance yelled. Keith let out a small laugh. "You being an annoying prick that day." He answered, with the slightest of smiles. Lance notices the expression before rubbing his neck. "Heh... oops."
Lance tapped the numbers on the screen to unlock the phone. Bundles of apps came up, all of them color coded. "Looks like Lover-boy Lance is more organized than I thought." Lance blushed and looked away. "Be quiet, jerk." He mumbled in a hushed tone.
The red paladin questioned his face. What he didn't know is that Lance felt a little spark of happiness flutter in his chest when he said that. The blue paladin was also confused, but more about his emotions. He knew exactly what growing emotion that was, and it scared him.
A crush.
Lance had never thought, even for a moment, that he would ever, ever felt like that towards Keith. So, the Cuban boy shrugged it off as a normal reaction, though the thought of having a gay crush on Keith, of all people, was swimming in the back of his mind and infecting his thoughts like a parasite.
Scrolling through the phone, Keith kept searching. "Jesus Lance, how many crap apps do you have on here?" He questioned, not anticipating Lance's answer. "Sorry." Lance responded. Keith gasped. "Holy shit." Lance widened his eyes, thinking one thought: Did he see porn?!
The brunette quickly asked. "What is it?" He tried not to sound scared. Keith laughed. "Lance, the almighty ass, just apologized to me! Nice!" Lance was recomposed himself and turned, putting on a flirtatious facade. "Glad to know you called my ass nice." He said, winking. Keith turned a light pink and punched him in the shoulder. "Dick!" He shouted playfully, smiling. Lance burst into laughter as Keith continued to search his phone.
The blue paladin had never seen this side of Keith. He was normally dark, brooding, mysterious, and especially emo. Now it was like talking to Pidge or Hunk. A friend.
After that thought, Lance sighed dreamily. "Cool..."
"What's that?" Keith asked, still searching. Lance looked up at The red paladin. "We're bonding. It feels like I'm talking to Pidge, but different, like..." Lance trails off, looking away at the stars in the early morning sky. Keith draws his attention away from the screen and directs his vision up to the sky, too. "Like friends." He finishes.
Lance turns to look at Keith for a moment. The raven haired boy stares back. In those seconds, they feel a silence. A comforting silence. A silence that can only be held by friends, not enemies. Not rivals. Not even teammates. Just... friends. (Or maybe more... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) )
The thought of that special connection even existing made Lance's heart flutter. The blue paladin had no idea that Keith had the same feeling in his chest.
Keith suddenly swiveled his head back towards the phone, trying to focus his course of sight anywhere but Lance. The red paladin was so confused about this emotion. What is it? Why is it here? What's happening...? Were the only things swirling inside his head. He was so confused about everything at the moment, so he decided to focus his attention back on the task at hand.
Peeking over his shoulder, Lance continued to watch Keith find the app and punched in the numbers to call the desired recipient.
