Nothin' felt the same anymore- she didn't feel the same anymore- and I didn't know how to break through her wall. It didn't take a genius to realize she saw things in her own head that changed somethin' in her- it was obvious in the way she talked and held herself- 'specially round me.
I frowned as I felt someone nudge me my shoulder, sharply. I snapped out of my daze as I glanced over at Dante who had a raised eyebrow as he studied me,
"Man, you okay?"
I refused to look him in the eyes, glancin' away before he could see the worry in mine. I cleared my throat as i made my way out of one of the workrooms, leaving him to follow me,
"Yeah, I'm cool."
Dante scoffed from behind me, as if he didn't believe a word I uttered,
"You don't seem cool."
I rolled my eyes to myself as I kept my head down and my feet moving forward. I didn't have time to argue with Dante or have a heart-to-heart with the man,
"Like I said, I'm cool. Just tired."
I felt a slap on the back as Dante picked up his pace so that he was walking level to me,
"Ah, you haven't been sleepin' much, huh?"
I glanced over at the smirk on his face, the glint in his eyes setting me a little on edge. I immediately knew he was hinting at my sex life- with Lillian. I rolled my eyes as I chuckled, feeling my shoulders start to tense up as I continued walking down the hallway,
"Man, what can I say? You know I go hard- I got no time to rest,"
I sighed as we entered the main part of the factory, once again surrounded by the buzz of busy men and the scent of dope in the air.
My eyes immediately scanned the spacious room for the long, brown hair as Dante mindlessly talked on, oblivious to my distant-self. It took him quite a while to realize I wasn't paying him any attention.
Dante sighed as he tapped my arm before stepping away from me, headin' back in the direction we came from,
"Aye, man, take a couple days off. You look like you need it."
I parted my lips to object but he dismissed me with a wave of his hand, turnin' his back to me as he walked off. The finality in his voice shut me up as he drew further away,
"Don't argue with me. Take your girl somewhere, just relax."
The thought of just chilling instead of being on the go made me feel a million times more tired and stressed- it just felt impossible.
I'll never be able to relax as long as I was breathin'.
I snapped back into reality as I watched Dante disappear into another workroom, leavin' me all alone at the opening of the hallway. I sighed, shrugging to myself as I whispered the words he never heard,
"If you say so."
I turned back around, a new mission formulating in my head. My feet absentmindedly stepped in front of the other, slowly, as my eyes dragged themselves over each and every face in the room. It earned me a few, wary stares but I ignored the men, my heart set on finding the woman I arrived with.
It didn't take me long to find her, my eyes freezing on her back as she talked to Dre by the entrance of the warehouse. Her back was turned to me, her head hung low as she spoke. Dre, on the other hand, had his head facing up, his lips pursed into a straight line and eyebrows furrowed.
It took me back to when they had a conversation last- the news he learned from her slamming around in my head once again.
I groaned at the thought of Nick, wantin' nothing more than to wipe him from my brain- he was just such a mood killer.
Fuck him.
I cleared my throat as I picked up my pace again, headin' right to them. But the closer I got, the more my heart beat started to race- it was hard not to get worried by the look on Dre's face.
I didn't have a chance to say a word about it as Dre's eyes flickered up to meet mine, every serious emotion from a couple seconds ago vanishing into thin air.
He replaced it with a smile as he greeted me,
"Kells! Hey, man!"
I didn't pay him any heed as I got closer, resting a hand on Lilly's back as I reached them. She still had her back to me but faced me the second I touched her.
I stared down at her blank face, watching a small smile start to grow on her lips as she studied me.
She laughed, leaning into me as she glanced over at Dre whose smile was still tautly stretched on his lips.
It didn't take a genius to realise it wasn't a genuine smile.
Lilly's soft voice brought me out of my staring contest with Dre, her hands clutching onto my jacket as she pulled a little,
"Ready to go?"
I tore my eyes away from Dre's to look back down at her, every muscle in my body growing tenser by the second. I could sense there was somethin' I was missing here- as if something had happened that I was deliberately left in the dark about.
I cleared my throat as I nodded, flashing her the sweetest smile I could muster,
"Of course, I came to find ya so we could leave."
She laughed a little as she started for the door, forgettin' about Dre and their conversation I had interrupted,
"Thank god, I've been dying to leave."
I clocked her nervous and rushed behavior as I glanced back to look at Dre, his smile slowly startin' to fade as he watched us leave.
What the hell is goin' on..
I didn't bother sayin' goodbye to him as she quite literally dragged me right down the hallway, headin' directly towards the guard that frequently unlocked the door for us.
I cleared my throat again as we walked out the door he had opened for us, the sound of the gravel crunching under our feet mixin' with my voice,
"Sorry, I hope wasn't too long."
Lilly immediately slowed down her pace since we were finally out of the factory, the tone of her voice starting to grow a little timid as she spoke,
"I didn't wanna leave because I hate it here, if that's what you think."
I glanced down at our intertwined hands before my eyes made their way up to her waitin' eyes.
I was a little surprised to find somethin' in 'em that wasn't there before. It was a familiar look, a look I knew all too well- mostly because we gave it to each other more often than not.
I felt my smirk start to grow alongside hers as I studied the glint in her eyes, her cheeks starting to blush a little as she evaded my stare.
I chuckled as I let go of her hand, the both of us gettin' into the Escalade that would take us back home,
"Oh, I see. Say no more."
And she didn't. She just kept those pretty eyes trained on me as I drove in silence, the atmosphere between us startin' to thicken with tension.
It wasn't the awkward tension, but the sexual tension- the kinda angst that made your heart start to race and your body start to crave.
The thought of making her moan once again drove me to press my foot on the gas, speedin' us down the road and past the cars that were mere blurs as we overtook them.
Before I knew it, I was draggin' her up the stairs as she laughed her ass off because of my desperation. I chuckled as I glanced back to see her trailing after me, her hand clutching onto mine as she followed as fast as she could.
She tripped over her feet a few times but she brushed it off as she continued giggling, her laughs growing quieter the closer we got to my bedroom.
I didn't have a chance to pipe up and say something slick, she took control as she pushed me into the room, every ounce of sweetness from earlier leavin' her system.
I scoffed a little as I chuckled, eyein' the way she closed and locked the door before advancing towards me.
She smirked and whispered under her breath, her hands winding up around my shoulders as she slid the jacket off me,
"I've missed you. I've missed seeing you and feeling you,"
I licked my lips as I looked down at her, allowin' her hands to undress me as her dark eyes devoured me simultaneously,
"Likewise."
Her smirk deepened at the slight crack in my voice which in turn made me wanna slap myself. She just had that affect on me- she could make me weak in a matter of a millisecond with just a blink of an eye.
I chuckled a little as I tried to bite back a smile, her cold fingers tracing the length of my bare arms as her hot breath met my chest. It drew me out of my thoughts as I focused back in on her droopy eyes.
Her sudden need for sex was a little eye-openin, considering I'm the one usually making the first move. She interrupted my train of thought again as she trailed her arms back up and pulled my neck down, her lips immediately meeting mine as she cut off access to oxygen.
It took me by surprise but I obliged with her, feelin' her lips battling mine. I usually took control but somethin' in the way she shoved herself on me told me that she needed this- that she needed to take control. It wasn't like her but I wasn't gonna complain.
I felt the moan rising up my throat as her fingers found their way into my hair, pulling and tugging at the ends. She knew I loved it when she did that.
I smirked against her lips as I bent down, pickin' her up from her legs as we stumbled backwards.
She giggled into my mouth as she wrapped her long legs around my bare waist, the both of us not giving a shit about where we fell or what was happenin' around us.
It was just us.
I pulled away for a second to see where I was walking, allowing her a chance to move down my jaw and on to my neck.
With every stroke of her tongue and every suck from her lips I felt the fire in my chest start to grow, as if every kiss was a kindling being fed to the flame that had been sparked up earlier.
I suppressed the moan as I bit my lip, laying the both of us down on the silk sheets she loved so much. Lillian laughed, starin' up at me with all the love she wanted to give me in those green-blue eyes of hers.
Every muscle in my body froze as I hovered over her, our smiles growin' as we studied the others'.
She bit her lip as she traced my jaw with a cold fingertip, eventually reachin' my lips.
She sighed with contentment in her voice, her fingers, despite being frozen to the touch, leavin' a blazing hot trail on my lips,
"God, I love you. I've never loved anyone as much as I love you,"
Hearing those words from her and seein' them coming out of her beautiful lips brought me joy, too much to explain.
The familiar warm feelin' I got whenever she kissed me started flowing through my veins once again, makin' my smile grow ever wider,
"Never?"
She immediately grinned as she leaned up on her elbows, her nose momentarily brushin' mine before planting a slow kiss on my lips,
"Never. You'll always have a special place in my heart because you're the only man I've ever loved,"
I involuntarily smiled against her lips as she kissed me once more, somehow leaving me breathless with this simple kiss. I stared at her as she kept her face close to mine, our pupils dilating as we stared at each other.
I felt all kinds of emotions all in that one split second as she spoke back up again, her words makin' me feel on top of the world,
"You're the only one."
