(AN: <+> means a time jump. But short ones)

A boy stood leaning against his car outside of his new high school, SilverThorn high. His mother last words before he had left played over and over in his mind: try not to get kicked out again. He smirked as the bell went.

"No promises, Mum." He whispered to himself before walking into the school, pulling his hood down, revealing a messy top of white hair. As he walked the halls with his hands stuffed in his pockets, students silenced as he passed and began to whisper rumours about him. Of course he ignored them all. But the big question on everyone's mind was "what's his name?". A peculiar question but necessary, for everything about the boy had been cracked, and spread throughout the school via gossip. And gossip travels FAST in SilverThorn. Somehow.

The white headed rebel strolled into the front office and the secretary behind the desk looked at him unimpressed.

"Why hello there... Nancy," he smirked, reading her name tag "I'm Jack Frost." Nancy glared at him for a moment before handing him a class timetable, and the combination to locker 610 before pressing pressing a button and speaking into a microphone.

"Can Hiccup Haddock please report to front office, thank you." She spoke into the mic dully, her voice throaty, probably from cigarettes as Jack could smell her breath from here. It was smokey.

"Take a seat." She told him, gesturing to the sofa opposite the desk. Jack obliged, sitting down with his arm stretched along the top. A moment later a boy came rushing in, papers flying from the stack he held in his hands and started speaking to Nancy quickly. Jack picked up a paper that had landed at his foot and read it.

"The SilverThorn animal shelter: Volunteers needed." He mumbled and looked up at the boy who was now standing in front of him nervously.

"Hi, I'm Hiccup. They, uh, want me to show you around." He said. He had a brown mop of hair and freckles, and was wearing a green shirt and a brown body warmer. He seemed like a nice kid. Jack only hassled people who deserved it. Hiccup didn't deserve a hassle. In fact, he might be in the running for being Jacks friend. Jack stood.

"Nice to meet you, Hiccup. I'm Jack. You need a hand with those?" He asked, taking some flyers from Hiccup as he nodded thankfully.

The two strolled the halls awkwardly as Hiccup lead the way to Jacks locker. Jack finally decided to break the ice.

"So you need help at this... Animal Shelter?"

"Yeah. The animals just need more people to care for them. At the moment we only have 3 people working there."

"Oh yeah? Well that's a start."

"That includes me, the owner, Mrs Tooth, and my friend Rapunzel."

"Oh... " Jack sighed "I'd help but I have things to do after school."

"That's okay... You're a nice guy, Jack."

"Don't ever say that again or I'll punch you in the face." He chuckled and Hiccup laughed. Although deep down he was pondering whether Jack was kidding or not. Better not test that.

Texting under the desk in his English class, Jack felt a shadow loom over him.

"What's this, Mr Frost? Im sure you'll be aware that mobiles are prohibited in class. Is this so urgent that it needs to interrupt my class?" Mr Pitch growled.

"Yep." Jack said, nodding his head. Mr Pitch smirked, he liked a challenge. The pencil like man ordered Jack to front, which he slowly dawdled up to.
