Day 20:
Lance lay on the ground of his cell, staring up at the cold metal of its ceiling.
It was late, the only sound heard being his own ragged breathing. He had been laying there, silent, for what must have been hours. The only company was his head, thoughts swirling rapidly in the quiet. Thoughts that were not entirely good.
The truth of the matter is, Lance was depressed. Probably the most depressed he had ever been in his life, and that's saying something. Even though he had come to terms with his fate, knowing he was going to die in the enemy's ship, knowing that his life was wasting away day after day, it was hard to process.
Honestly, Lance didn't think he'd be able to last much longer. His injuries weren't even close to being healed, he received very little amounts of food and water, and most of all, he had accepted it. He wanted to die. The quicker, the better.
He no longer thought of death as a bad thing, anyway. When he died he would no longer be a bargaining chip for the Galra empire, and his pain would cease. His friends and family could move on with their lives.
In his opinion, death couldn't come fast enough.
_______________________________Keith was nervous.
Almost 3 weeks had passed since Lance's kidnapping, and he missed him like hell.
Tension was running high in the paladins of Voltron, scared-excitement filling the heart of everyone on the team. They were getting Lance back.Keith would make sure they got Lance back.
"Alright team." Shiro's voice was heard through the comm system. "Are you guys ready to go get Lance?"
"Yes sir!"
"Ready as ever."
"Let's get a move on, yeah? The Voltron lions left the castle and started after Lance's last known location.
A sigh escaped Keith's lips as his excitement began to build. They were bringing Lance home. Today.
_____________________________A l r i g h t maybe floating around space in hopes of finding the Galra ship that held Lance captive was a little dumb.
Scratch that. A lot dumb. (Ya think Keith-y boy??)
Keith was known for his "shoot (strike?? Cause sword? Ack) first, ask questions later" personality, which had so far proved to not be the best course of action.
Especially in this case.
Four of the Voltron Lions sat (floated? Wow I'm questioning myself a lot this chapter lol carry on) in front of over 100 Galran ships. So much for their plan.
"Shiro," came Hunk's voice over the comms, clearly panicking. "What do we do? It will take all day to find out which of those ships Lance is in,,, what happens if we get it wrong and the surrounding ships tell the scary purple guys we're here? Will Lance be ok? And if we do get lucky and choose the right ship,, what happens if Lance is really hurt?? Do you think we should notify Allura right now or-"
"Hunk!" Pidge interrupted. "Take a deep breath. Let's just think this all through."
"Yes." Shiro began. "Let's take a moment and think of another plan. I promise we aren't leaving without Lance."
Kieth agreed. He would never leave Lance behind again.
______________________________When the angry purple witch-wombat lady burst into Lance's cell, he didn't even bother lifting his head.
That is, until she broke the news.
"Little paladinnnn." She said in a sing-song voice. "Looks like some people are outside coming to pay you a little visit."
Lance whipped his head around to the projection of his friends attacking several Galra fleet, even without being able to form Voltron.
A mix of pride and fear churned in his chest. His team was o b l i t e r a t i n g the Galra, however, why were they there? They weren't coming to rescue him were they?
"Looks to me like you were wrong, blue Paladin. Seems like you won't be of use for much longer..."
With that, Hagger pulled a tiny remote from her robes (for tv a n d torture purposes! 50% off!) and pressed a button. Suddenly Lance could see each of his teammates faces, just like over the comm systems.
"Paladins of Voltron!" She exclaimed, her ugly grin spreading wide over her face. "Glad to see you here, right on schedule!"
Keith was the first one to react. "What have you done to him?!"
The witch's nasty smile spread even more. "Me? Oh nothing much." She brought Lance into the view of the comms. "He's still in one piece. For now."
An audible gasp was heard from his team at this, probably due to all the bruises that no doubt covered his entire body. (Ahhh poor baby who would do such a thing to youuuu lol it was me bad author alert!)
"What do you want from us?" Shiro asked, the calmest of the group.
Hagger's smile grew malicious. "Why don't you come aboard my ship? I'll send you the exact coordinates." She pressed another button on her remote. "We're excited to meet you. You all have splendid timing."
"And why is that?" Keith growled, his teeth set in a snarl.
"Oh," Hagger started. "I was getting so tired of this one. It'll be nice to finally rid myself from his presence."
"What do you mea-"
That was when Hagger whipped around, a dagger clenched in her fist."Bye bye little Paladin." She whispered before stabbing directly into Lance's stomach, her wicked smile ever- present.
"Pleasure doing business with you all!" Hagger's voice exclaimed before she ended the comm-call and stomped out of the room.
Leaving Lance, completely helpless and laying in a pool of his own blood.
