Ember

I woke up at 7:38. My throat felt itchy, and kind of stinging. I decided to dismiss it. I told Lin to be here in the morning, so I should probably get ready. I did the usual: shower, left my hair, brushed my teeth, ate breakfast. I kept it casual, wearing this:

- 38 minutes later -

I looked at my phone, anxious to see if Lin or anyone else had texted me, when I heard a knock.

They're here.

I walked over to the door, and opened the door. I luckily got greeted with Daveed's fluffy hair, which made me feel much better.

"Hey Ember." He smiled.

God, that smile just melts my heart every damn time.

"Hey, everyone. Come in, have a seat." I smiled. Daveed sat next to me, which made me happier.

"How are you guys doing?"

I heard different answers at once.

"Good!"

"I've been okay."

"Nothing new."

"The usual."

"That's good." I resumed.

There was an awkward silence.

"So....about yesterday?" Lin said

"Oh yeah, right."

- 20 minutes later -

I was bawling my eyes right now. I felt like shit. I don't usually cry in front of this many people, or at all, for that matter.

"Ember. I am 100% positive that we all feel bad for you. We are so sorry for you. You shouldn't have to go through that. If we pressured you into doing this, we're sorry." Oak said, coming over to hug me.

"Thanks, Oak."

"Hey Ember. You should have never had to go through this. You've been such a good friend to me, and I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you." Daveed said, also reaching out to hug me.

"Thanks, Daveed. I appreciate it."

*cue another awkward silence*

"Do you want us to give you some time?" Jazzy said.

"Yes, please."

"I'm gonna stay with her, we're close to each other." Daveed said.

"Are you sure?" Ant asked.

"Yeah, of course." Daveed said.

Everyone left except, of course, Daveed. I was still crying, but not as hard as before.
