"Faster, Yukio! Faster!"

Yukio heard Rin call. He was panting from running upwards the hill.

"Come on, Yukio! We won't be able to reach the top if you're this slow, slow poke!"

Yukio frowned when he heard Rin's taunts and he ran faster. He heard his brother started running again.

Faster.

Faster.

Faster.

Further.

Further.

"Onii-san! Onii-san! Wait for me, onii-san!"

Yukio looked up and saw his brother's back clad in a dark blue yukata.

"No way, Yukio. I will not wait for you. You can run faster, though. We're nearly there, see!" Rin looked back towards his shoulder and laughed.

Just in time for the first fireworks to cloud up the night sky.

Yukio reached his brother's side and joined him in watching the colorful display with awe.

"Look, onii-san, blue! Just like your eyes!" He exclaimed.

"Woah! You're right!"

"So pretty."

After the fireworks display, Yukio and Rin walked the way down the hill.

"The display this summer is prettier than last summer, right?" Rin asked his brother.

Yukio hummed in reply.

Rin stopped and offered his hand to Yukio.

"Let's watch the next summer display again next year together, Yukio."

Rin said with his grin so wide. The fireworks sparkle remaining in his eyes.

"Yes. Together, onii-san!" and he held Rin's hand.

Rin's hand are sweaty though.

"Onii-san, why are your hand so swea-" His words stopped on his throat. Instead of Rin's smiling face, he saw his neck spurting with blood. He tried letting go of Rin's hand but the hand won't let go. He looked down and saw it drench in a dark red liquid.

He heard a groan and looked sideways.

"Yu.. ki..o.." His eyes widen in horror when he saw Rin's decapitated head. "Yu... why.. d.. not.. helped.. m.. Yuki.."

There were maggots where Rin's pretty blue eyes used to be. Roach and blood and insects are flowing out of his mouth.

"Yu.. it hur.. Yu.. help.. Yuk.. Help.. Yu.."

Yukio.

Yukio.

Yukio!

YUKIO!

His eyes opened and saw the familiar white ceiling of the school clinic.

"Are you okay now, Four-eyes? Do you remember what happened?" he heard Shura. He sat up and put on his glasses.

"I think so. But yes, I'm fine now. I just passed out from exhaustion, I think." He answered while calming his wildly beating heart.

"You were groaning and shaking before you woke though. Nightmare?"
