We were deep into the forest when the sun started to creep into the sky.  We were walking all night and it was starting to wear me down.

I stopped and put my gun in my waistband.  Nathan stopped a few feet ahead and looked back at me.  "I'm tired." I say, my voice proving it.
We'll stop and rest for the day, then when night falls we'll keep going again.

I was exhausted.  Too exhausted to question his decision or yell at him for using the gift.  Instead, I pulled out the hammock I brought, set it on t the fallen leaves and feel fast asleep.

I woke up at around 7 o'clock pm.  At least that's what my watch told me.  I stood up and dusted my clothes off.  When I looked around, I noticed Nathan was sleeping on a pile of leaves.

I tiptoed away as fast as I could.  I know I shouldn't have be leaving, but I don't really care.  As I walked, I noticed how the setting sun made the leaves in the trees shine a beautiful orange.
Why was I named after such a beautiful season?  Why couldn't I have been named something normal like Lauren or Mackenzie?

Stuff like this really makes me think.  But I had to stop for now, and clear my mind.
Inhale...  Exhale...
The wind ruffles my hair as it breezes past me.  I open my eyes again and sit with my back to a tree.  As I look up to the sky, I realize how dark it's getting.  I sigh.  I need to start heading back.  Nathan will probably worry.  I start to get up, but freeze.  I realize too late the nest of snakes I happened to be sitting on.

A brown snake is already in front of me hissing.  I mentally cursed.  From the pattern on its skin, I could tell that it wasn't poisonous but I could tell if it bit me, it would be really painful.
Right as it's about to lunge at me, a small blur of red appears and tackles the snake.
Surprised, I scramble back and see my savior is a kit.

(A kit is a baby Fox.)

The Fox is strutting around proudly with the snakes head in its mouth.  I laugh at the Fox's demeanor when it realizes the snake is still in its mouth.  It spits it out and runs away from it.

Slowly, I stand and look around.  The kit seemed to be alone.  I look down at it and say mostly to myself, "The least I can do for you is take you with me."

The Fox just sat there, watching me.  I smiled.  "Come here."  As it obeyed, I noticed it was male.  I bent down to pick it up.  He was extremely soft.  "I'll name you... Rya." I whispered.

Then, I turned and headed back to where I knew there would be a very upset Nathan.
