"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!"
I flinched and Rya dug deeper into the protection of my arms when Nathan yelled. I opened my mouth to speak, but paused. Nathan was staring at the small, red furball in my arms.
I gave a nervous smile. "Surprise?" He pointed at Rya and said, "What is that?"
I bit my lip before standing up straight and replying, "He is Rya. He is a Fox and I owe him, so I will be taking him with me. If you have a problem with it, talk to my mom after we get to her institution."
After a few seconds of him contemplating his options, he gave an exasperated sigh and turned around to pack his things. I grinned, glad I won this subject. Then I went to pack my things too. After putting everything in my backpack, I sat Rya on top. After he was comfortable, I zipped the old, gray backpack enough that he could still breath but wouldn't fall out.
Poor Rya, you got separated from your family didn't you? I think to myself.
You named him Rya? I recoiled at the disgust in Nathan's mental voice. Yeah. So?
He scoffed aloud, which just ticked me off more. Oh it's nothing really, just that you shouldn't have him at all! I spun around. Why do you care anyway? Is he bothering you? Besides, he kind of saved my butt while you were freaking sleeping!
I considered making her cuss, but decided against it just in case it offends anyone. (And I was a little uncomfortable with the idea sorry!)
He shook his head. I highly doubt that. I held back a smirk and said, "You'd be surprised." Then, in case he tried to pry into my thoughts, I imagined a strong brick wall protecting my mind from dangerous, nosey guys who also happen to be on the same adventure as me.
Nathan's eyes widened. "Did you just block me?" Then my eyes widened and I started getting excited. "Really? I blocked you?! Ack! I mean... tch. Of course I blocked you. I already knew how to do that..."
I inwardly cringed at my super obvious lie. Nathan just rolled his eyes. "No, but seriously, did I really block you?" He grinned a toothy grin and nodded. Yep.
Eyes big with excitement, I nearly jumped ten
feet high. He just laughed and we started heading to my mom's "hideout" again but this time a little closer than before.Read on to learn more about our handsome male lead. Until then!~~
