JaxonThe day went on. I didn't really want to be away from Landon but this doctor was actually being nice enough to buy me some food. What has it been? Two days? I don't know. I didn't even payed attention to my hunger. Like I never felt like I needed food but him saying let me get you something to eat brought me to realization that I need something in me, maybe even something to drink.
We sat in the little cafe in the hospital and I was eating whatever he gotten me, which was a muffin, some chocolate milk, and a cinnamon roll. I ate like I haven't ate in weeks.
"So, kid. How did he get shot?" He said as he took a sip out of his coffee.
"Hm?" I said while chewing the cinnamon roll.
"He had to be doing something stupid or being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Right? Because come on, that's a pretty nice aiming game someone has." He laughed as he took another sip.
"Yeah, wrong place at the wrong time." I murmured and then slumped against the chair, losing my appetite. Guilt washed over me.
What am I doing.
"I'm sorry. Thank you but-" I said as getting up and pushing back the chair, "I need to be with my-"
"So you're just going to walk away?"
"That's what I'm trying to do. And that's what I'm going to do." I walked around the chair and pushed it back in and quickly walked out and walked back to the room he was at. And just in time I see them rolling him out with a heart monitor rolling next to him and some fluid as well.
I jogged over and walked behind them as the walked down the hall. My heart was picking up because I didn't hear the monitor but I looked at the wheels and saw the plug. It wasn't plugged in. I then looked at the doctors pushing him and saw a mask which had a little pump they pumped and I'm assuming was giving him air.
They seemed so calm and relaxed but I was still on my toes trying calm myself down telling myself that he's alive. He's right here in front of me and not in there laying dead on that operation table. He's alive and hopeful would stay alive.

I had to wait for the doctors to put him in the room and then wait a couple of minutes for them to walk out. I walked in and see him hooked up to so many machines. One was the heart monitor. One was helping him breath. And the rest I don't know. Wires covered his arms and laid on the bed with him.
A tube was in his mouth and one sticking out of his throat. It gave me chills staring at it. I seen worse and I've been through pain like he did, but seeing someone else in almost the same amount of pain is scary. It's scary and I can't help but feel like it was my fault.
The bullet was supposed to hit me. Not him. Me.
Would it have hit me in the same spot? Would he do the same like I did?
I took a seat at the chair sitting at the corner of the room and relaxed. The chair wasn't as comfortable but it's something. I took off my shoes to at least relax and I laid my head against the wall.
When all my muscles relaxed and I set my mind at ease, sleep was easy to come.
*****
Sounds of beeping woke me up. It was dark. Like really dark but the lights from his machines lit up some of the room. I rubbed my eyes and looked around but I couldn't seem to find it. The beeping was growing faster and faster and that's when I knew something was wrong. I ran towards the light switch and looked over to Landon and see him struggling with wires and trying to pull them out of his arms with tears running down his face.
I rushed over to him and held down his arm. He looked up to me and tried to say something but it seemed that pain is what caused him to stop trying. He looked around and he looked at me, panicking. "Hey, you're okay. You're okay." I gave a soft smile. But his expression didn't change. He looked back at his arms and I didn't too and the tightness I was giving to his arms was causing him to bleed since he pulled out some of the needles.
I looked back at him and his face was paling. "Hey. Landon?" He looked at me and then back to his arms causing him to knock out.
My heart dropped. "No. No come on Landon." I said. I pushed the needles back and looked around for a button that was near the bed because I knew my ma had one close by when her heart started to hurt.
I looked on the side but I couldn't find anything. The time was clicking and I knew every second counted because I did this so many times with my ma. I moved the covers out of the way but still I didn't see a button or a remote.
"Where!?" I yelled. I wanted to cry in frustration but I decided it's not the time. I sprinted towards the door and looked to the side and then to the number next to the door; 215 section B.
Okay.
I sprinted out and looked to the left and the right and decided to go left. I ran down the hall and doors were surrounding me and my breaths started to turn into pants.
"Help!" I yelled. "Help!" I said as I ran down the hall. I turned to the right and I see two doctors stopping and looking at each other looking confused. "Help!" I yelled again as I stopped running. They turned around and they looked even more confused. "Please! Help!" I turned around and started to run towards Landon.
They had to be following me. I hoped that they were. There was no time to look back. I sprinted towards his room, making my lungs burn, begging for me to slow down to catch some air. Blood pumped fast and hard through my veins and I was becoming light headed but once I got to the door, I slammed it open and quickly rushed in and rushed to the side of the bed to where I can see who walks through the door.
Relief washed over me when I saw both the doctors out of breath rushing in. I was trying to catch my breath and talk at the same time but it hurt. I pointed at Landon hoping that they understood what I was trying to say. They didn't even need more hints, they quickly rushed over him and started to garb his arm and check his pulse I suppose and fix all the needles in his arms.
Don't leave now Landon.
