Chapter X: I like you hangin' around

Dawn's POV:

Yesterday I talked with Nick, about his family, I'm really sorry for him. He just doesn't deserve to be treated like this by his mother, I mean he's only a human after all, he can't be there at any time of the day. I wish so bad I could help him. He's my best friend after all and I love him.

Raven: ''You're still thinking about him, aren't you?''

I sigh.

Me: ''Yes.''

Raven: ''That guy's got you. He's got you good.''

Me: ''I know. And I hate having him always in the corner of my mind.''

Raven: ''You'll always have him in the corner of your mind 'til you finally get together.''

Me: ''Yeah but, what can I do? Let him haunt me my entired life? What if my feelings would disappear all sudden?''

Raven: ''If you truly love him, your feelings for him will never disappear. You can try to move on, but your feelings won't disappear.''

Me: ''I just care too much about him.''

Raven: ''No you don't. You're simply in love.''

Me: ''I just don't want dad to hurt him. I-if dad would hurt him, I don't think I could ever forgive dad.''

Raven: ''You just have to be patient.''

Raven puts her arm around me and kisses me on my forehead. I'm so lucky to have a sister like her, who always supports me, who always comforts me.

Me: ''I'm just waiting 'til I see him again.''

Raven: ''I know, for me's the same with Brian.''

Me: ''Yeah, I think that this time you've made the right selection. Brian's really an amazing guy.''

Raven: ''Yeah he is.''

Me: ''I actually wouldn't mind to have him as brother in law.''

We both laugh.

Raven: ''Glad you like him. He likes you too.''

Me: ''Really?''

Raven: ''Yeah. He thinks you're very wise for your age.''

Me: ''Wow, didn't think he thought that of me.''

Raven: ''Well, he does. And he even thinks that maybe you're even too good for Nick.''

We laugh again.

Me: ''Yeah. Nick again.''

Raven: ''I'm sorry.''

Me: ''You don't have to.It just, it hurts me to talk about him when I know that he's far away from me.''

Raven: ''Don't worry, you'll see him again sooner than you actually think.'' She smirks.

I look at Raven with confusion.

Me: ''What do you mean Ray?''

Raven: ''Oh nothing.''

Me: ''I don't believe you.''

Raven: ''You don't have to. But I'm just gonna say it.''

Me: ''Say what?''

Raven: ''That Brian's coming today.''

I stare at Raven shocked and happy at the same time.

Me: ''Oh my god. That's why you were smiling the whole day.''

Raven: ''Yep. And he's bringing a friend here.''

Me: ''Why?''

Raven: ''I told him to. You're not gonna be sitting around and listen to us, like an old grandma. So I told him to bring a friend with him.''

I give myself a facepalm.

Me: ''Why Ray? I don't want to meet anyone new.''

Raven rolls her eyes.

Raven: ''Yeah, yeah. I know. Nick's your only one, you love him. I know this story already.''

We hear then someone knocking on the door.

Raven: ''They're here!''

I roll my eyes.

Me: ''Urgh. Great.''

Nick's POV:

Brian told me this morning to pack all my things, buy a last minute ticket and fly straight to New York City. He told me afterwards to meet him at the airport, then we would take a taxi to New Jersey. 

The reason why he told me to do that was because he wanted to visit Raven and him and Raven wanted me to come with him and make Dawn a surprise. And because they know that I would do anything for her, they didn't even ask me if I agreed.

And now I'm here, in front of Raven and Dawn's housedoor with Brian. Brian knocks on the door and we're waiting 'til someone opens the door. Brian looks at me.

Brian: ''You nervous?''

Me: ''Yeah. Of course I am.''

Brian pats me on my shoulder.

Brian: ''She'll be happy to see you.''

Then, the door opens slowly to show Raven's face. Raven screems in happiness and throws herself in Brian's arms.

Brian: ''I missed you babe.''

Raven: ''I missed you too.''

Raven: ''Hi.'' Raven hugs me while she whispers.

Raven: ''Don't say anything, or she'll recognise your voice.''

Brian's already got inside while Raven told me to wait outside for a minute.

Brian: ''Hi Dawn.''

Dawn: ''Hey Brian.'' They hug eachother.

Dawn: ''So, where's that friend of yours.''

Brian: ''Oh yeah sorry. You can come in.''

I got in and Dawn turned around. We looked in eachothers eyes then, I've never seen more happiness in her eyes as in that very moment.

I walk fast towards her and when I was close enough, she threw herself in my arms. We hug eachother and I hold her as tight as I can.

Dawn: ''I missed you.'' 

I can hear from her voice that she's holding back her tears. She hates to cry and no matter how bad she wants to cry, she always fights her tears back. As if crying was a crime, but she actually never wants to cry because she says that crying means showing weakness.

Me: ''I missed you too.''

Raven: ''I think we did our job.''

Brian: ''Oh yeah we did babe.''

I see a little girl storming downstairs. I guess that's Crimson, Raven and Dawn's little sister.

Crimson: ''Oh my god. You're Brian and you're Nick. Hello!''

She runs towards them and hugs us both. Me and Brian laugh.

Me: ''Yeah that's us. And you must be Crimson.''

Crimson: ''Yes! That's me. Nice to meet you. My sisters always talk about the Backstreet Boys, especially about you guys. I tell you Brian that Raven loves you very much, and that Dawn really wants you to be her brother in law, while Nick, Raven thinks that you and Dawn should get together as soon as possible, while Dawn thinks you're sex on two legs-.''

Dawn and Raven cover their little sister's mouth and drag her away. Me and Brian look at eachother and laugh.

Dawn and Raven come back to us afterwards. Raven and Brian went upstairs doing their own thing, while I was alone with Dawn. Again.

Me: ''So, you think I'm sex on two legs, huh?'' I smirk deviously at her.

Dawn: ''Shut up.'' She blushes.

Me: ''Aw, are we blushing here?'' I keep my smirk on.

Dawn: ''I hate you Carter.''

Me: ''I love you too babe.'' I kiss her on her forehead.
