∞ Agenor's POV ∞
The weather was idyllic with a gentle breeze, clear skies, and calm seas. However, a storm raged inside me since last night when Nyx was bullied and reportedly broke a barrel. I understood that he was fatigued and having a rough day, but his eyes betrayed deeper thoughts that he wasn't willing to share with me.
Everything had been going so fucking smoothly until then. I knew that I might have thrown him into the pirate's den too hastily, and it could be an overwhelming experience for someone like him. Nevertheless, he had adapted admirably, and many people were talking about him as if he was a mate, just a lot... cleaner. So what the hell had changed? His behavior was bizarre last night. He even took off his pants without my asking him to, which was unlike him since he valued his body and privacy greatly. Then he went to bed without even glancing at his pendant and slept at the far end of the bed, miles away from me. Was he drunk? Could someone get drunk from spilt alcohol? The aroma emanating from him was irresistible. And following my recent resolution not to pressure him, I had to control myself, lying on my side, unable to sleep, counting the waves all night, with an embarrassing erection! Even today, he slipped out of his chains without acknowledging my presence.
Where the fuck was my morning kiss?
As I heard my own thoughts spiraling out of control, I let out an exasperated sigh, feeling like a desperate old wife. My teeth gritted together as I tried to calm myself down, silently pleading with the universe not to let Nyx think of home again. Deep down, I knew it was a futile hope, but I couldn't help but wish that he would come to love staying here. But as soon as the thought crossed my mind, I realized how foolish and naive I was being. Despite that, the idea of Nyx pulling away from me after all the wonderful times we had spent together since I took him was too much to bear.
Suddenly, Baril's voice broke through my thoughts, and I turned to face him as he limped towards me. "Captain, you called?" he asked.
I snapped out of my reverie and asked him, "What time is it?"
"Well, it's almost dinner time, and I'm just about finished preparing it. Oh, and captain, I noticed you didn't touch your lunch today; I hope it wasn't because of my cooking..." he trailed off, waiting for a response that never came, so he continued "I made sure dinner would be to your liking though. And I'll bring it to your cabin soon-"
"What's with you and Nyx?" My tone was curt, and it was clear that I was not in a good mood.
Baril hesitated for a moment before clearing his throat and answering, "What, Nyx? Nothing out of the ordinary, captain."
I remained silent, but my expression made it clear to Baril that his initial response was unsatisfactory. " Nothing important, yesterday he slacked and broke some stuff so I yelled at him. Why? What did he say?" he asked, hoping for a better reaction from me.
