The butterfly feeling in my stomach as the school days ends. It was time. For what I felt was going to happen, it was now. I had nearly made it to the gate when he called out.

I turned slowly expecting the worse. I had known it all since last night. "Saori!" I kept my face neutral until I spotted him giving him a bright smile. "Glad I caught you before you left. Look I have to talk to you about something." People were pausing now. They knew too. I mean I'm sure everyone did. I wouldn't lie and say I haven't heard a rumor about him liking someone else. "I Don't think what we have is going to work anymore." I knew that. I knew for a long time but him saying it outright and in front of everyone made this matter no better. "Why?"

He rubbed the back of his neck clearly uncomfortable. "Look, We just don't belong with each other. I can't keep lying to myself any longer." My heart stopped. How long had he felt this way? Why had I not seen the signs before now? "Why the sudden change Akira?" He shook his head with a sigh, turning his back to me. "People change Saori."

He started to walk away and anger surge through me. "Yeah then who the hell is Mina? Do you want to tell me that" He stiffened before turning back to me with shock clear in his eyes. "What are you talking about?" I stomped my foot. "I won't lie, I went through your phone last night. I saw the messages. You were talking about hooking up with her." He stepped back rubbing the back of his neck again, stuttering. "Wait. That- That's not even what happened." Anger was puling through me. "Oh, it's not," I said mockingly.

His own anger spiked. "No... Look we both know this is for the better." I scoffed."Oh, don't even. Don't use those lame excuses. You just don't want to feel bad." He shook his head placing a hand on his chest. "Don't make me out to be the bad guy." He stepped forward. "Oh your not the bad guy. You just step on people and use them."

He was shaking his head again. "You're going too far. You don't need to make it out like this." I stepped away from him. "I'm taking it too far. What's wrong with you?" He sighed placing his fingers on his temples before removing them. "This wasn't part of the plan." I was shouting now. "Well guess what Akira?" I turned away from him. "Love doesn't follow a plan." I could barely hear someone shout over the crowd. "Yeah."

"I was totally wrong about you. I opened myself up to you but you've got thorns. You've got thorns." I could feel the build-up of my tears. The stinging sensation that let me know they were actually there.

I ran, hearing someone call out my name as I did. This is how it was supposed to e I knew. He was not mine and he never will be. I just wanted to cling to him for a bit longer, being selfish. He had found his one. His one and only and I could stand that. His eyes brightened up whenever he saw her walk into a room and her. Her smile just spread across her face unable to take it away. I was stupid for trying to hold onto him as I did. Just stupid.

It was always her. He chose her.
