The day of the first task had arrived, and the entire castle was buzzing with excitement.

Alexandrina was sitting in the bleachers in the Slytherin section, wrapped tightly in a green and black scarf. Next to her Darcy and Fleming were talking to some other Slytherins around them, but Alexandrina was way too nervous to pay any attention to them.

For the past few days, her and Cedric vigorously practiced the order in which he would perform; first come out quietly, find something large enough to transform into a dog, wait for the dragon to be distracted, then run like hell to the object he needed. She even made him practice simple charms just in case anything went wrong. Alexandrina was just as much invested in this as him.

"Look Alexandrina they've released a dragon-are you even listening to me?" Alexandrina was snapped out of her trance by Fleming's voice. "Cedric is first! Hey quit shaking your leg"

Alexandrina ignored Fleming and stood up as Cedric came out, and quickly hid behind a large boulder, probably planning his next moves.

She looked over to the opposite side and saw a Swedish Short-Snout, standing protectively over a nest of eggs, in the middle, a golden egg sat proudly. It circled its nest protectively, almost daringly. Taking in its blue scales and large form, she knew the containment of the chains that were attached around it's neck would only make the dragon grow irritated, for this specific breed loved the free wild. Cedric would have to be extremely cautious while performing, and she prayed he remembered what he had to do.

The dragon began to inch closer towards where Cedric was hidden, and Alexandrina silently screamed at him to act. But there were others all around her doing it for her, rather loudly.

Her thoughts were confirmed moments later when he transfigured a rock near him into a Labrador, and the dragon whipped its head toward it, losing interest in Cedric.

He ran from his spot behind the rock when he heard the cheers of the students above him grow louder and made his way towards the nest, careful not to break any eggs, Cedric walked around them and looked at the large golden one that gleamed at him, almost daringly.

Cedric was so entranced with the egg he didn't realize the dragon had lost interest in the dog, and was coming his way, enraged.

Then everything happened so fast.

Cedric quickly grabbed the golden egg, but he was too late.

Alexandrina felt her body stiffen as the dragon fired blue flames from it's mouth, hitting Cedric's face directly. She knew it only took seconds for a Swedish Short-Snout to completely turn bone into ash, and before she had the chance to panic, Alexandrina felt her instincts kick in.

She quickly mumbled Stupefy in her mind, stunning the dragon for only a moment. But it was enough for Cedric to run back to safety before his entire face was disintegrated.
