I was dancing around and bumped into Carmel.

Carmel- Jen...

Jen - Oh my. I'm so sorry. I didn't see you. Are you ok?

Carmel - I'm ok. Why are you so happy?

Jen - Jake just asked me out on a date. This will be my first date in a long time.

Carmel - That's great. I'm happy for you.

Jen - Oh I'm actually looking for you.

Carmel - Ok. Why?

Jen - I need your help.

Carmel - Anything.

Jen - You just say yes not even asking what it is. I could ask you to kill someone for me and you just said yes.

Carmel - Are you asking me to go kill someone for you?

Jen - I was joking. No of course not.

We both laughed.

Jen - I'm taking Adam to court and I need a lawyer. No offense but I don't want to use Ethan.

Carmel - Why are you taking Adam to court?

Jen - He kidnapped me. He held me in this basement with the walls covered with pictures of me and he said he wouldn't let me go until I take him back. I've opened up a case against him for kidnapping and sexual harassment.

Carmel - That's awful. Ethan left me.

Jen - Oh my I'm so sorry.

Carmel - I told him I'm pregnant and next thing he packed his stuff and left. And he hasn't returned.

Jen - I'm so sorry that's awful.

Carmel - I'm more mad than sad. He hurt me enough by cheating on me. I'm also taking him to court for child support. Luckily for me the judge is one good friend of mine Kaitlyn. And she revered me to a lawyer. She used to work with Ethan but decided to go her own way cause she can't stand Ethan. He was flirting with her too much. Shes helping me against the case with Ethan. Her name is Andrea. Here's her number. She can help you.

She handed me her card.

Jen - Wow... thanks so much Carmel.

Carmel - And Jen. Adam might use Ethan so heads up. Be careful. Adam is going to be mad.

Jen - Yes I know.

Carmel - Just be prepared for anything. Stay strong. 

Jen - Thanks I'll keep it in mind.

Carmel - Look I'm not trying to scare you. I know Ethan. I know what he is capable of. But your a smart girl. And I want you to win this. I'm behind you 100%. And to help you even more I'll talk to Kaitlyn. And tell her about Adam. I just hope you have enough evidence.

Jen - I do. And thanks.

Carmel - I think you have a good chance of winning. Good luck.

Jen - Thanks Carmel. Really I'm grateful for this.

Carmel - Hows Toby doing?

Jen - He's good.

Carmel - I'm kinda avoiding him a bit. I mean I'm pregnant and I don't know how to tell him. And I don't know how he will react.

Jen - He really likes you Carmel. You should give him a chance. He might surprise you. Trust me. I've know him for a while now. He's trustworthy. You should call him.

Carmel - Thanks for the advice. I'll keep it in mind. I should go. I'll see you.

Jen - Yeah sure. Thanks again.

She left and I just sighed.

Jen - What have I got myself into.
