Newt & Rosa (TMR)

Jealous

Prompt: Gally flirts with Rosa and Newt gets jealous.

Rosa had woken up in the middle of the night feeling horrible. Her head hurt really bad, her stomach was in knots, and she was coughing up a storm.

It had gotten so bad that she threw up outside of the Homestead.

"Rose are you okay?" Newt. She heard his footsteps and felt his presence behind her. He grabbed her hair and pulled it away from her face as he rubbed her back with his other hand.

"I feel awful," She said, barely audible with her scratchy voice.

"You're not working today. Just stay in bed okay?"

She liked the sound of that. She nodded her head and stood up, holding onto his arm for support.

When she woke up in the morning she felt a little better, but she still stayed in bed. Newt went to work in the gardens, coming to check on her every so often. She was bored, used to doing things all day and everyday until now. At first she wanted a day off, but now she was rethinking it. She got up to go for a walk around the Glade, just to get some air. She went to see Newt first.

"You shouldn't be out of bed," He said at the first sight of her. She chuckled, knowing that he would say that.

"I'm losing my mind in there. I just wanted to walk around."

He smiled and ran his hand through her hair. "You feeling any better?"

She nodded her head yes, hoping that he would believe her.

"Good, I'm glad. Come back after your walk."

She nodded her head again smiling and wandered off by the maze walls. She was just walking, minding her own business when Gally came up to her.

"Hey, I heard you were sick and just wanted to check up on you."

He had been being more friendly than usual with her lately, not that it bothered her. It bothered Newt though.

"I'm feeling better. Thanks Gally," She said, giving him a small smile. He smiled back and began to walk next to her. She glanced over at Newt who wasn't that far away and he was staring at them.

"Well you look good, I mean you always look good, but yeah," He stumbled with his words and then stopped walking. Rosa stopped too, not wanting it to be awkward. She glanced at Newt again and now he was walking towards them.

Rosa nervously laughed, not knowing what to say. Newt reached them before Gally said something else.

"Hey Gally, how's that building going?"

Both of them looked annoyed at each other.

"Great. Just took a short break," Gally said, looking more angry as the seconds went by.

"Well break's over," Newt said grabbing her hand and leading her back to where he was working before that happened.

Rosa joined him in his work, not saying anything at first.

"You were jealous," She said after a few minutes.

He stopped what he was doing and looked at her. "Of course I was. Gally has been all over you lately and I don't like it," He said, getting angry again.

"It doesn't matter."

Zart was working across from them and now he was starting to stare.

"Yes it does. He's trying to steal you away from me," Newt said, putting his tools down and giving her all of his attention.

"Well it's not gonna happen. I'm never giving up on you Newt. Don't you get that?"

More Gladers were starting to notice the commotion, including Gally.

Newt's face softened and he was quiet for a minute. Everyone went back to their jobs again, not interested in the conversation anymore.

"I know Rose. I'm sorry. I just get jealous sometimes."

She smiled at his words and put her arms around his neck.

"That's okay," She said, standing on her tip toes and placing a kiss on his lips.

"I love you so much. And you better not get me sick," He whispered against her lips.

"I love you too shank," She said, right before he gave her another kiss.
