Prompt: The events that unfold before Rosa, Newt, and the others are sent into the Maze.

It had been over a year since she had seen Newt.

The boys, along with Thomas and Teresa, came to get her. Something about Teresa rigging the security cameras. She had also met Chuck. He was adorable.

She ran straight to Newt and hugged him. She felt safe in his arms. She had missed him so much.

"I missed you," He said when we pulled away.

"I missed you too."

They had the same eventful nights about once a week for the next six months.

Then Minho brought up an escape plan.

"Gally's going to help me."

Rosa didn't like the sound of that. She didn't know who he was, but she wished that Minho had forgotten about this.

This Gally guy wasn't very nice when she met him and that made her not like the plan even more. Minho kept saying they were prisoners, but Thomas and Teresa thought that they couldn't have it any better than here.

"When?" Newt asked, breaking the quiet that had taken over.

Rosa looked over at him, trying to see if he was actually into this plan. There was no way she would let him risk his life.

"Tomorrow night."

Everyone went back to their rooms, but she stood back to talk to Newt.

"You're not actually gonna go are you?" She asked him, worried and scared.

"There's no way it could work," He replied, shaking his head. "Plus, I know you're not into it and I'm not going anywhere without you."

Rosa smiled a little and walked away. That made her feel a little better.

Minho tried to escape the next night, but was caught again. They tortured him with some kind of a monster they called a Griever. She had no idea what it was or what it looked like, but Minho was traumatized. He wouldn't even meet up with them after that.

Insertion day was growing close, but the group never talked about it. They didn't know what was in store for them.

They had sneaked Newt into the Group B barracks to see his sister. Rosa knew they needed to do that before they went into the Maze. It hurt her heart seeing them together. She felt bad for her friend.

"Oh Lizzy, this is Rose. Rose, this is my sister," Newt said, pointing to her.

She smiled and so did the little girl. She had long blonde hair, just like her brother.

"I've heard a lot about you. Nice to meet you," She said, remembering all the stories that Newt had told her about his sister.

"Nice to meet you too. You're very pretty," Lizzy said, smiling wide at her and her brother.

The next day she was having her normal conversation with Newt in the maintenance room while the rest of the group was being loud.

"You know my sister is right," He said randomly after a moment of silence.

"What?"

"You are really pretty."

Rosa then remembered what Lizzy had said the night before and she blushed at Newt's comment. She really liked that boy.

Soon it was insertion day. Rosa really felt like a subject in an experiment. And she had learned that Thomas and Teresa weren't joining them.

Minho was furious, but Rosa wasn't very surprised. She knew they were more special than her and her friends.

"It doesn't matter. Nothing matters anymore except finding a cure," She told Newt, who was sitting next to her.

"Something's not right. Something's fishy," He said, looking back and forth from the doctors working on them.

They had no idea that the next morning when they wake up in the Maze that they won't even recognize each other.

One by one they were taken into another room. Rosa didn't remember anything else after that.
