Chapter 8 - A Secret

Chapter 8

The month of October had passed by like the days in September and the very day Y/N woke up again, the dawn of 31st had come finally. It was Hallowe'en! It was told by –you can already guess who –Ella that the Hallowe'en Feast is usually festooned with sweets-filled pumpkins, bats, orange streamers, water snakes, goblets of colored candy and all sorts of Halloween-related decorations.

It was like the Muggle's, though there was no need for trick or treating to get candies, and like always, Y/N wasn't looking forward to it. She's cautious about the health of her teeth after learning her lesson on her 9th birthday. The day when she had eaten so much candy that her teeth ended up rotten in the end of the week and the scary dentist that aid her teeth was the one to traumatize her forever.

Her classes had been great in that passed months too, Y/N had been working harder than she ever done but this time, she was doing out of motivation than being forced. Muggle's schools cannot compare to this magical place and the subjects are a-must than those Mathematic equations that made no sense to her.

Y/N sat up, still sleepy but was wondering what was moving on the bottom of her bed. There she saw Pixie cuddled up with Nagel, the two in a comfortable slumber. Ever since the night in the West Tower, the owl would always knock on the window still in each night, wanting a bed companion. At first, the cat would put distance between the two of them and would grow jealous whenever Nagel would try to sleep closer to Y/N.

In the end, they found comfort in each other.

Nathan knew this and let it be, saying that "Like owner, like owl." that didn't make sense to Y/N at first but then, after a day of pondering, she found the hidden meaning that the blond was trying to tell. Y/N missed the sleepovers too.

Like each morning, Y/N gathers her shower equipment and waited a bit until her shower companion wakes. Anya was oversleeping today it seems. Y/N, getting a little worried for her friend, decided to peek over Anya's bed's curtain to see if something was amiss but instead, she saw the bed empty.

'Maybe she's already there.' Thought Y/N and had strolled alone to the shower room. But the ash-blonde girl wasn't there too. Y/N didn't know what to do and had thought that maybe the girl was already in the Great Hall. If this intuition is wrong either, then something is wrong definitely.

While brushing herself with soap, she stops at her right thigh to inspect the words written in her skin. Y/N's researches had led her to believe nothing too big. The script into her leg stays like it was in her first day here and Y/N is starting to consider confronting someone, Hermione and Professor McGonagall being the options, to talk about this. In what she believes in, Y/N was the only one who had this stained in her skin which frightens her, believing that this situation could lead her being expelled, be an outcast again. Y/N didn't want that so she was torn in-between telling and not.

Like every morning, Tiff and Mia had only woken up the moment Y/N return from the shower. Again and again, Mia would always borrow Y/N shampoo product and Tiff seems very weird-out about it though she never really point out the problem. After all, it was just roommates sharing their things.

Y/N is used to it by now as well.

The stares that followed her in the hall had becoming a routine. Though it was less than before but it still exists so now, all she could do is to ignore it. She still doesn't like it, being in the spotlight. Y/N hurried to the Great Hall and upon her entrance, her eyes scans the Hufflepuff table.

She had not ignored the theme of thousand live bats fluttering in the walls or the ceiling, the thousand swoop above the table like a low black clouds or the candles installed inside the floating pumpkins but Y/N didn't have time to admire them, her mind filled with worries about her close friend.
