Lyricals POV
It was only my first class and I was already receiving an overwhelming amount of glares. My new English teacher told me to pick a seat and I gladly went straight to the back. I heard her sigh from behind me, probably because she thinks I'll be another one of those introverted kids that sit at the back to avoid socialisation. She's right. I shoved my headphones in my ears and observed the back of people's heads.
"Psst"
"Pssssssstt"
I looked at my left and raised my eyebrows at the blonde-haired girl who sat beside me. She had blue eyes and a lip piercing. I pulled out an earphone as she started speaking to me.
"I'm never the type to say this shit or even care but that's a dope outfit", she whispered.
I genuinely smiled at the compliment and scanned her outfit which mostly consisted of black. Black baggy high waisted jeans, red and black dr martens and a black and white Joy Division shirt that was tucked in. I liked her taste in clothing too, it was similar to mine. I know I hate stereotypes and all but this chick has 'punk' written all over her.
"Wow yours might be better. Would you look at that, this school might actually have decent dressed people here", I said and she laughed quietly.
"It actually doesn't. I've been the only one to really step out of line when it comes to the usual clothing expectation. Looks like you'll be joining me", we both laughed, gaining a few stares from the students around us.
"I'm Alex", she smiled.
"Lyrical", I smiled back.
"Pass me your timetable", she whispered.
I did as told and she examined it slowly before passing it back.
"We've got 3 classes together and you're sitting next to me in each one", she said.

The bell went for lunch and I set off to look for Lucas. Alex asked me if I wanted to join her and her friends but I told her I already had a seat reservation for lunch.
I made it to the cafeteria and saw Lucas waving to me from his table. All of his friends were watching me and I cringed under the scrutiny. One of his friends had said something and Lucas punched his arm. I hope that wasn't about me. I sighed and took my time approaching their table.
"These are my friends and this is Lyrical, you guys should already know by now", he motioned towards me. They all said hi and seemed surprisingly nice. Two of them shook my hand and one held mine longer than usual causing a glance from Lucas, I soon learnt his name was Michael. Other than that they all seemed really chill and I found myself becoming comfortable around them.
"So how's it going so far, do you like it here?", Michael asked and everyone turned their attention on me.
"It's only been a few hours and I really don't know that much about this place so.."
"Well in those few hours, what do you think?"
"Yeah it's pretty cool here and I'm making friends easier than usual"
That was my New Year resolution. It was to become more social because I was sick of being awkward and introverted all the time. I just didn't expect it to happen this quickly.
All of them looked relieved at my response which amused me. It looked as though their lives depended on my opinion.
"That's good I guess", Lucas said.
I went back to eating my lunch and so did the rest of the table. I started to feel slightly uncomfortable in my seat so I looked up and noticed Michael was staring at me which made me even more uncomfortable.
He had short light brown hair and green eyes, he was extremely attractive and I took a liking to him.
I didn't want him to know he intimidated me so I smirked at him but in return, received a smirk back. Maybe life won't be so shitty to me anymore.
