Chapter 5: The Request of a Name

After that second meeting with the it was like Freya no longer had any self control. All those years of being so extremely self disciplined, and this unnatural creature had caused her composure to crack. For a period of time she would try so hard not to give in to her urges to seek out his company once again, and yet as soon as she hear the wards needed to be reinforced once again, Freya was at the front of the line to volunteer.

Freya wasn't sure how, but every time she went back to the river, he was there, almost as if he was waiting for her. They never talked, and Freya always had her concealment charms up, and even still it seemed that they were both getting something out of their silent meetings.

"I heard you've been taking over my job while I've been busy with school," Kota chuckles, playfully punching Freya's arm as he got ready to head off for the day. "Keep it up and I'll no longer be the master illusionist of the family." Her brother was grinning, clearly taking the whole situation very lightheartedly. Freya had nearly had a heart attack at the mention of how often she was going out. She had wanted to try and keep her disappearances on the down low, but she guessed it was more noticed than she had wanted it to be.

"Yeah Freya, I'm not too fond of this new activity. It was good thinking at first to expand your horizon with where you were helping out in the coven, but being on the outside of the wards, even just barely outside, is too dangerous. I really think you should stop volunteering to help with this particular task," her mother butts in. Even though Leonora was posing her statement like a request, Freya knew it was more of a demand.

"I can't," Freya blurts out in response to her mother's statement. "I mean... It's just that Lady Katrina has really liked my work with the wards, and I just don't want to disappoint her by suddenly stopping," Freya amends, hoping it would be a good enough cover up for her slip. Freya didn't want to admit it, but she was desperate to not lose her time by the river. She had been growing so accustomed to that little escape she got once or twice a month, that the idea of losing it made her panic.

"Well I guess you can continue for now, but I still don't like it," Leonora mutters before leaving the house to head off for the day. Kota had backed up as the two women in his family figured things out. Seeing that the dispute was settled he gave his sister a tight lipped smile, understanding the she just wanted a little freedom.

"Be safe," Kota tells his sister, giving her a quick hug before rushing out of the house as well. Freya quickly finished getting dressed before heading out herself. She was going to work on the wards again, and she could hardly wait to go meet up with her mysterious vampire man once again.

. . . . . . . . . . .

Jasper was ditching school again under the pretense of needing to hunt. He had been using the cover story of his control being a little harder mor recently meaning he needed to hunt more often here and there, but the reality was that he was heading down to the river.

He never really could figure out when exactly his ghost girl would be waiting for him, as the days he went never fell in any sort of pattern, the only way he could describe it it that its like something is tugging at his mind, urging him to get closer and seek out the source. It didn't take long for him to realize this particular sensation was calling him to go to the river.

Jasper had yet to talk to or even see who he was meeting up with which was may be a stupid move on his part. He was opening himself up to possible harm with not knowing, but Jasper just couldn't seem to ignore the call when he felt it. Jasper was getting a little impatient though. It was coming to be late spring now, and he may have all the time in the world, but he had always been one who liked getting answers and he was getting to a point where not having any answers to all his unspoken questions was driving him a bit mad.
