Chapter 9: Unfamiliar Places
Freya woke up very groggy in an unfamiliar room. It was a stark white, much to her annoyance, and but thankfully it wasn't horribly bright in the room as the lights appeared to be dimmed. There was an annoying beeping sound, and as Freya looked around, she realized she must be in some hospital with all the medical equipment surrounding her. She wasn't on her coven's grounds though. That she knew for sure. They had no need for all this medical equipment as magic was much more efficient if used right.
Freya had only been awake when a striking, blonde haired man entered the room she was in. It wasn't hard to conclude he was a part of the medical staff as he donned a white lab coat, though the rest of his attire was very casual being jeans and a long sleeved black shirt. "Hello Miss, I'm doctor Carlisle, I've been in charge of your care the past few days. Do you happen to remember how you got here?" The man questions as her picks up a clip board and presumably begins to check her vitals.
"I was in the woods and I passed out," Freya replies softy, trying to recount what exactly had happened, it was all still very fuzzy. "Am I at a hospital?"
"You're actually at my home due to the special circumstances we found you in," Doctor Carlisle responds, and Freya didn't think much to question it as she didn't have much experience with how the mundane normally handled these situations. With her coven, it would have been perfectly normal to wake up in someone's home instead of the clinic. Her family had housed many injured people to keep better watch over them. "Do you remember how you got to be in the woods?" Carlisle continues to ask, trying to get to the bottom of why she would've been wondering around late at night, especially in what she was wearing. He was hoping it would give him some indication of what exactly she was.
Freya didn't respond right away, as she wasn't sure what exactly to say to that statement. She couldn't tell him the truth. As her mind started to clear and fully wake up Freya slowly started to realize this man wasn't human. All the tell tale signs were there and Freya's heart beat noticeably started to quicken as she began to panic. "Wh.. what do you want with me?" Freya stammers, trying to scoot back in the bed, as if that little bit of extra distance would help.
"Freya I need you to calm down," Carlisle says calmly as he carefully watches the panicked girl. "You were extremely dehydrated and your body was lacking nutrients when we found you. You're still weak and recovering from a very bad fever."
"How do you know my name? And why the hell haven't you killed me yet? I know what you are, don't even try to pretend you're human. What do you want from me?" Freya demands, unable to help the slew of questions that poured out of her mouth. It was bad enough to be in an unfamiliar place. Knowing that place belonged to a vampire only made it even worse.
The door to the room suddenly opened and Freya was shocked to see a familiar face appear. "What's going on in here?" Jasper demands, not liking how panicked Freya was at all.
"She just realized what I am, she's scared," Carlisle informs his son calmly.
Freya was beyond confused now. The last person she had expected to appear was her woodland companion. "I.. Jasper.. What's... why?" Freya stutters out, her brain trying to process to much information for her to properly form a sentence.
"You're at my family's home. My sister Alice had a vision of you being hurt so we went to get you. This is my father, so to speak, he's not going to hurt you." Jasper says assuredly. Almost as soon as the honey blonde vampire had entered the room, Freya's nerves had calmed down a bit, but just in case, Jasper was using his ability to help keep her calm. Jasper hated doing so, he hated controlling someone he was starting to care about, but he knew it wasn't good for Freya to get all worked up right now, so if Jasper could help keep her calm then he would.
