Chapter 6: Family Conversations
Alice appeared to be bouncing off the walls by the time Jasper got home. He hadn't ended up back at the house right away as his mind had been full of all the unanswered questions he had for Freya, but he almost wished he had stayed out a little bit later as it appeared Alice was about to burst from excitement.
"Oh I'm so happy for you!" Alice squeals, flinging herself at Jasper the moment he stepped through the front door. The rest of his family was in the living room, all in a strangely happy mood.
"Care to fill me in?" Jasper questions, hoping to get some inkling of why Alice was even more happy than usual.
"Your future had been so choppy lately that I was starting to get concerned, but I understand why now, things are all starting to make sense!" Alice squeals, and with how fast she was speaking, Jasper was lucky he was actually able to understand a single word she had said. With the still extremely confused look on Jasper's face, Alice let out an exasperated sigh, seemingly annoyed she had to explain herself any further. "Freya! She was the reason I couldn't really see what was going on with you. She had been blocking anything to do with her from Edward and I somehow, but now that she's kinda revealed herself to you, she's not as off limits as she once was. Though it's so frustrating not being able to see her yet as she hasn't decided to fully reveal herself to you just yet, but I have a strong feeling she will eventually. You two are gonna be so cute together!" Alice giggles, clearly beyond happy to be seeing what was to come of their interactions. "Why didn't you tell us though?" She demands, smacking Jasper's chest.
Jasper lets out a deep sigh, seeing the cat was out of the bag with the real reason he had been sneaking off so often lately. "It was nice to have something to myself for a little bit," Jasper chuckles, amused by Alice's antics, but also showing he didn't really mean anything against his family by that statement.
"Oh you hurt us Jazzy boy," Emmett gasps dramatically, "You don't love us enough to share your mate?"
"Please she's not my mate," Jasper responds quickly, not even entertaining the idea for a moment. The mysterious girl may not necessarily be afraid of him, but she didn't fully trust him either, hence why she wouldn't fully reveal herself to him, and rightfully so. He's a monster, they both knew it. "We've barely talked," Jasper continues, wanting to shut this crazy notion that he had a mate out there down. He didn't think there could even be anyone out there for him. He had simply committed too many sins in his life to be rewarded in such a way.
"Oh but you two will get to know each other very well," Alice giggles before skipping off. Nothing ever did make her happier than knowing things the others didn't, minus Edward, of course.
"You deserve love Jasper, if it happens, don't deny yourself the right to be happy," Esme says softly as she hugs her adopted son tightly. She hated the way he was always so hard on himself, but she knew there was little she could do if he didn't want any help from her. "We're always here if you ever need anything, never hesitate to ask." Jasper simply nodded in response. He was beyond grateful for both Esme and Carlisle. They both were so caring and did everything they could to make sure everyone in the family was safe and felt loved.
The rest of his family starts to disperse seeing that this little interrogation, if it could even be called that, was over. Carlisle was the only one that remained after everyone took off and he nodded his head, indicating he wanted Jasper to follow him. It didn't take long for the two to end up in his office and Carlisle looked out the window, contemplating on where exactly he wanted to start. "So, this girl. . . Do you have any idea what she is as it is clear she isn't human nor is she one of us or even a Quileute." Carlisle asks casually.
"I honestly have no clue, what she is," Jasper sighs, running a hand through his honey blonde hair, making it appear even more tousled than it already looked. "I've never run in to anything like her before. I do agree it is safe to assume she is none of those things though. I almost thought she was a ghost," Jasper chuckles, "but she simply laughed at that notion," Jasper pauses for a moment. Carlisle had turned to face his adopted son, and although he too appeared slightly amused with the idea of this Freya character being a ghost, Jasper could clearly pick up on the underlying feeling of concern radiating off of him. "Do you think she's dangerous?" Jasper questions. It felt silly asking such a thing, considering what they are, but he knew it was still a valid question. They weren't completely invincible after all.
"I don't know what too think Jasper," Carlisle sighs. The last thing Carlisle wanted was to take away the one thing that had been giving his son some peace of mind for once in his eternal life. "Just, don't let your guard down. There are so many unknown variables."
"Yeah that concerns me as well," Jasper nods, "And apparently she's apart of some group. So there's more out there and they've all been aware of us since the moment we moved back here," Jasper informs figuring it was important for Carlisle to know.
"Well if they haven't come after us yet then I believe it is safe to say that they don't mean any harm, but we'll keep our guard up." Carlisle states, not knowing what else they could possibly do until they knew more about this group. "Esme was right though Jazz, you deserve love. I'm not syaing that this girl is it, but if she is, don't push her away. We'll figure everything else out when the time comes, but don't let fear stop you from getting the happy ending you deserve."
Author's Note: So hey, this is my first not for this story lol ✨ So this chapter was kinda crap, maybe i'll Go back and make it better in a few days, but I honestly thing this is as good as it's going to get so sorry about that. Anyways, I hope you're all liking the story so far, sorry that it is so slow paced right now, but there are a lot of things I'm trying to develope and I really really believe that once we get to the good stuff it'll all be worth it. 💖 Feel free to drop some comments on what you think of everything so far, feedback is always appreciated, and I think I should have the next chapter up very very soon, so until then ✨💖
