Cornell University created a computer program that would analyze interviews with known serial killers, to see if there was any pattern in the way they all talk. According to the data, killers tend to speak in the past tense. They also say "um" a lot more than the average person, because they want to appear "normal" to cover up the fact that they planned their lies out ahead of time.
