Aside from animal torture, a paper published by John Macdonald encouraged parents to watch out for bed-wetting past the age of 12, and pyromania, or the love of setting things on fire. Those three indicators-cruelty to animals, pyromania, and late bed-wetting-became known as the Macdonald Triad. Later research has found that bed-wetting is not statistically linked to the likelihood of becoming a serial killer.
