Chapter Eight – Coffee Run
"Run faster Ashley!" Kimmy's voice carries throughout the field. I push myself to go even faster, panting hard, legs feeling numb. The boys were doing a photoshoot in a park and while they were on break and having fun, I wasn't needed so Kimmy thought it was a great idea for me to run laps. A lot of laps. Once my boss waved me over I thought I was going to collapse. I walked slowly over to the cameras and picked one up. We were heading back to the office, they had to do a dance practice. While they were doing theirs, Kimmy thought it would be great to practice as well. So as we walked back I did my job and filmed them well as they goofed around. It was adorable to watch. As we made it to the office they went to change into workout clothes and since I now always have to wear such attire I went into one of the practice rooms. They only had two since it's a small company. Once we got into the room Kimmy oh so kindly helped me stretch to my fullest ability, which was farther than I thought it would be. Having not danced in years. As I continued to stretch on my own Kimmy went to go play my music for the dance she's come up with. My hips aching more and more the longer I stretch. I completely froze as music started playing. My body refused to answer my mind and stayed exactly where it was.
"Dance Ashley. I know you know this routine." I let my eyes follow her voice, glaring at her. I couldn't move, I couldn't talk. I was frustrated. I wanted to yell, I wanted to scream, and I wanted to cry. I wanted to run from the room, and I wanted to turn off the music that was playing on repeat. There was so much I wanted to do but I couldn't. I wasn't even sure if it was my mind or my body that refused to listen. We must have stayed like this for a long time, because my stomach started to growl.
"Ashley!" The door flings open and in comes a skipping Hoseok, and a smiling Jimin. I of course didn't know that they were doing those things, I could only assume by their personalities. I couldn't move my eyes away from Kimmy. When Hoseok comes over to me and touches my arm it's as though his touch unfroze me. I stood up suddenly and walked right to the door.
"I will never dance that routine again. I promise you that." I whisper, my hand paused on the door handle. I shake my head as I open the door and step out. Walking out of the office and down any street I could. One song, one routine and I can't even move. I'm pathetic, I shouldn't freeze up like that. But it wouldn't work as a solo, it was originally a duet. Frustrated with myself I let myself get lost among the streets and people.
The smell of coffee is what I decided to follow, even though I didn't have my wallet. I knew it would be a nice place to just sit and relax for a little bit. Walking into the store the smell is coming out of I was shocked. It had a fireplace and a lot of nice seats. The place was spilling with warmth and welcoming spirit. It was my new favorite place, and I would have to remember how to get here so I could come back when I had my money. Just the smell itself made me think that these people could make one hell of a coffee. I smile and take a seat at an empty table. I relax a little enjoying the warmth of the coffee shop. I watched some of the passer byers and even watch them make some coffee. I got lost in the steps they made, the smells, the chatter, and the laughs. I got so lost in it all.
"Ashley?" I look up startled at my name being called. A name like that isn't common around here.
"Jungkook?" I ask absolutely confused, but slightly relieved. He can help me home.
"Why you here?" I smile, he was one of the better ones at English, if I remember correctly he went to America for a couple of months to learn dance.
"Got lost." I look at him, and notice he is carrying nine drinks. Standing up I go to grab one of the drink carriers he was holding. "Here let me help." He smiles and nods, before nodding his head towards the door. We walk through the door and down a few streets. Before we were somehow in front of the office, and I still couldn't figure out quite how he did that. But none the less we walked in and he led me to a pretty large room that had all the members waiting. They seemed to be having a meeting. I set down the drinks I was holding and let Jungkook hand them out. He handed one of the lasts ones to me, and looked around confused when it came to the last drink. Looking at my drink I could only stare in confusion. How did he know my drink? "Jungkook? How did you know?" I ask referring to my drink. He smiles the smile where his upper lip disappears slightly.
"Kim told. Where she?" I smiled as I realized what he meant. Taking her drink from him I smile.
"I'll take it to her. Thank you Jungkook." I bow to them all and turn to take my leave. I leave the little meeting room and search for the stairs. It took me a bit to find them, but once I did I started going up. Once I got to the roof door, I struggled to open it with each hand holding a drink, but I finally managed to wiggle it open just enough so I could push it the rest of the way with my foot. I looked around trying to find Kimmy. I soon find her laying on the roof, looking up to the sky. I kicked her leg and handed her drink out to her. Startled she sat up and slowly accepted the drink from me.
"Listen Ashley. I'm sorry to have pushed you to do that routine. I should have been more aware of how you felt. I've been working on another routine for you to dance to if you'd like." I look down at my coffee. I couldn't believe I was going to say this.
"I want to do the routine. I shouldn't let a routine like that affect me in such a way. I want to work through it." She looks up at me fast, her face painted with shock.
"Are-are you sure?" she stuttered out, looking extremely unsure about it all.
"It'll be like my last goodbye. The only problem is that I need a partner. And unless you want to dance with me nice and pregnant I'd find someone else." She smiles up at me that very evil smile she gets when she has an evil plan.
"I actually have someone. They volunteered the other day to learn the dance." Her smile was worrying me and I couldn't think of someone she knew that would have the time for this.
"Who?" I asked hesitantly. Not sure if I even wanted the answer.
"Hoseok."
