Chapter 15 - My last performance
My aunt took me to a hotel that night to talk. To say she wasn't expecting a fight was untrue, to say she wasn't expecting a fight between me and Yoongi was very true. She wanted to go to dinner and talk about me staying in Korea and how it would affect me and all that jazz. She wasn't planning on staying all night, but after what she witnessed, it was needed. Once I calmed down, I was fine, but getting to that point took a bit. She forced me to tell her a lot, but I also refused to say too much. She didn't need to know I was in Korea alone. She seemed to be really understanding about my job, she even offered to have me stay with her when my contract was up before I went back to America. It was an offer I may have to follow through on. I was surprised she even cared so much, she used to hate me.
After much convincing this morning during breakfast, she took me back to my dorm, though she was very against it. She didn't like how things went with Yoongi, which I understood, but I had a contract I couldn't break. With the promise of calling daily, I ran up to my dorm to shower and get dressed. It was almost mid-day, and the day of their concert. I jogged down to the office to get some editing in, knowing most of the staff and the boys were already at the venue setting up. I wasn't scheduled to go to the concert, and originally, I wanted to get as much work done early enough to go and watch them in support. Now...I wasn't so sure. With a heavy heart I went to work. I tried my best to ignore the clock, but I couldn't help but count each minute that passed by. I hated that I knew exactly what the boys were doing, what song they were performing, and when they talked to the ARMY's. It was torture. I tried my best to finish my work, not only as an employee, but as a trainee as well. My stomach was in knots, I hated not being able to support those who have supported me. Reaching for my phone, I know I shouldn't do it, but I couldn't help it. I replayed the very last voicemail my mom sent me. The very last thing she said to me;
"Hey! Hey sunshine! It's Momma, I'm sorry we aren't there yet, but I promise you we will be there! You are going to do amazing things my little flower. I'm so proud of you, and we will get there as soon as we can! I love you!"
I smile as I play it over and over again. She had always believed in me. I didn't deserve such a wonderful mother. I haven't listened to her voice in almost a year, I never realize how much I miss it. It always pushed me, knowing that she had so much belief in me even at such a young age. With a new found determination, I go into the recording room to hopefully record my new song finally.
I bring up my work so far, and start playing the music. Taking a deep breath, I start singing. I did as much as I could in one take, but then finished up in three. I then spent the rest of the night editing. I was working in peace, since the concert was over and the employees all went home. Slowly piecing my song together. I felt at peace, I got my work done, both as an employee and a trainee, and now I'm working on my personal stuff. It didn't take much for me to halt everything, once I heard the office door open and close. No one should be here. I quietly got up and grabbed the closest thing I could that was weapon-ish, a metal water bottle. Once I made sure no one was in the office, I went towards the practice rooms. That's when I heard someone messing around in the dark practice room. Taking a deep shaky breath, I walk in and throw the water bottle at the hunched over figure.
"OW!" They shout, "What the fuck?" He questions turning around, pausing as he sees me ready to throw another one. "Ashley?" He pauses, "What are you doing?" I stop mid throw.
"Jimin?!" I lower the bottle, "Jesus! You gave me a heart attack! What are you doing here?" I ask, thankful he wasn't a murder.
"I came to practice." He explains. I shake my head, amazed.
