Fear [Niall Horan]

Family Day

After an amazing date with Niall last night I was rudely awoken this morning by my mum. I was about to cuss and scream at her but before I had the chance she told me we were having a family day and going shopping so I really couldn't be too mad at her. Who's going to be mad at their mum when they've just offered to take you shopping for new clothes?

"Lexi are you ready?" Mum called up the stairs.

"Just give me a second," I called back as I slipped into my converse and put my phone in my pocket.

When I had everything I needed I shut my bedroom door behind me and jogged down the stairs to meet my mum at the front door. We exchanged smiles before leaving the house and getting in mums car ready to go into the town for some shopping.

"So what made you want to go shopping?" I asked as I buckled my belt.

"Just thought we could do with some mother daughter time. After everything that happened with Jasmine and you've been spending a lot of time with that Niall lately, I thought I'd catch some time with you while I could," mum replied with a smile as she pulled out onto the road.

Mum drove us the short 10 minute drive into the town centre then parked up in a car park just behind the shops. Once parked we climbed out the car linked our arms and made our way toward the shops.

"Where'd you wanna go first?"

"How about New Look then we'll go Primark or Select after," I suggest and mum nods.

We do exactly as I suggest and head into New Look first. When inside it's not me who finds something but its mum, she heads straight over to a long tank top dress that reaches down to the floor. It's beautiful with a floral pattern on it, not something I would wear but definitely something that would look good on mum. We end up picking that up along with a pretty pair of heart socks that I found and fell in love with.

"So do you want to go Primark or Select?"

"You know I love me some Primark," I say with a grin on my face, as mum knows all too well I do love this shop.

We make our way over to Primark just over the road. I'm so excited I practically jump into the shop bouncing around like a kid at Christmas. As we walk in I spot a gorgeous top and run straight over to it lifting it up against my chest.

"Mum what'd you think?"

"Wow, that's really pretty Lex," mum compliments

"Can I get this one?"

"Sure, put it in the basket. I know you're going to need one for in here," mum laughs as I run off and grab a basket putting my new top inside.

As we make our way through the shop I end up picking up 2 more tops and a pair of leggings along with some new cute underwear. I wanted to get something a little sexier but I didn't want mum asking questions about why I wanted raunchy underwear. We make our way to the checkout and pay for my new stuff on mum's card then head outside to a nearby cafe.

"Shall we stop and get a coffee?"

"Yeah you go grab a table I'll get the drinks," mum instructs as I walk over and take a seat at a table next to a window.

As I sit down I notice a sign saying that they're hiring. It might not be a bad idea if I get a job right now, I'm turning 18 in a couple months and going for my last year of high school so if I can get a weekend job or after school hours job it might help me get some money in my pocket and I won't have to rely on mum so much. When mum comes back with our coffee's I tell her I'll be right back and make my way over to the counter.

"Hello, how may I help you?" The cashier asks politely.

"Hey I saw your sign back there about the job, I'm actually interested only I go back to school soon so if there's a position available for weekends or after school hours I'd be very interested in taking the job," I explain and she nods understanding.

"Here if you fill this out then hand it back before you leave someone will get back to you and let you know."

"Thank you."

I take the form along with a pen and head back to the table where mums sitting. She gives me a funny look but I shrug and take a seat.

"What's that?"

"Oh I saw that sign," I say pointing to the sign I saw. "And thought I may as well apply for a job, maybe get some of my own money coming in."

"Oh that's good."

Mum and I finish our coffees and make sure the forms complete. On the way out the door I hand the same cashier back the form and her pen saying a quick thank you before catching up with mum. After shopping some more and spending a total of about £100 between us mum and I decide to call it a day and head back to the car to go home.

Once in the car mum pulls out of the parking spot and onto the road. Just as we turn onto another street my phone rings in my pocket. I pull it out and answer it without looking at the caller ID.

"Hello."

Hello is this Lexi?

"Erm yeah speaking."

Hello Lexi this is Evan from the Coffee shop, I would just like to say I liked your application very much and would like to invite you to join our team. All we'd need to do is discuss hours you're available to work. So if you're still interested when would you be able to make it in?

"Oh wow thank you, yes I'm 100% interested I can make it back tomorrow to discuss hours if that's good with you?"

That's absolutely fine, I will see you tomorrow Lexi. Have a great day.

"You too and again thank you."

I hang up the phone just as mums grabbing bags out the boot of the car. I quickly join her and grab the rest of them as we make our way up the driveway into the house.

"Who was that on the phone?"

"Oh that was just my new boss," I say with a smile

"You got the job?"

"I did indeed, he wants me to pop in tomorrow to discuss hours."

"Congratulations hunny I'm so proud of you."

"Thanks, I'm going to take these upstairs," I say grabbing all my bags and running up to my room, truth is I'm dying to tell Niall my good news.

When I reach my room I dump the bags down next to my bed, kick my bedroom door shut and jump on my bed laying on my front pulling out my phone. I bring up a new message and begin typing away.

To Niall;

I've just got myself a job :) :) xx

Oh wow baby that's brilliant, I'm so happy for you. When do you start? xx

To Niall;

I've got to pop in tomorrow to find out hours but it's a start. Oh I'm so happy, I'm coming over tonight. We're going to celebrate xx
